Chapter 255 Woman Who Is More Ruthless to Herself
The level-four Throat Seizer let out a piercing scream.
As if receiving some command, the mutated zombies fighting the Evolving persons around them almost simultaneously stopped their attack and rushed towards the Throat Seizer and William. Even the ordinary zombies that had already bypassed the Evolving persons and were charging towards the main building turned back and gathered here.
In a desperate moment, Throat Seizer was the first to start summoning reinforcements.
Michelle's left neck was slashed, and blood was continuously flowing out, staining half of her body red. But seeing this scene, she frantically shouted, "Hold them off! Hold them off!"
"Protect William!" Jack roared, discarding his empty pistol and snatching up a discarded knife. He charged towards the throng of converging infected, Candice, Natalie, and Lucy right behind him.
Inside the main building, Brian was organizing the defense. The ordinary people saw the zombie horde merging with the Evolving persons and zombies in the battlefield's center. They hesitated to shoot, afraid their lack of accuracy might harm their own.
"Charge down! Grab your knives and spears, it's time to fight for our lives! If we don't protect our leader, once something happens to him, that level-four zombie will kill us all!" Brian shouted, his eyes wide open, his hair and beard now red with rage as he led the charge out of the main building with a weapon in hand.
He knew better than anyone, that their survival hinged on William. As long as William stood, they had a chance. If he went down, all hope died with him.
Darryl threw his short spear, pulling it back to tear off large chunks of flesh from several zombies. He led his men charging towards the center. Now, there was no distinction between Hungry Tiger Knights warband and Cloud Peak Manor; it was just humans versus zombies.
Sasha also led her people in another charge. All she wanted was to reach William, who always looked at her with a strange gaze, and protect him, ensuring he wouldn't die.
All the zombies and humans charged towards the decisive point of victory!
William's right hand,purple-red from lack of blood flow, twitched twice. He could no longer hold the Edge of the Moon, and the white long knife fell from his grip. His left hand could still struggle with the first tentacle, but his right hand was completely passive. If it weren't for the improved drugs he took during his evolution, making his physique close to that of a three-star Evolving person; if it weren't for the Bloodstride Boots continuously healing his injuries; and if it weren't for the fighting techniques he learned from Candice, his right hand might have already been broken.
But persistence had its limits. William's right hand gradually weakened, unable to even hold the knife.
The Edge of the Moon fell towards the ground. William gritted his teeth, letting blood flow from his mouth. Perhaps his hand would soon be broken, but he wasn't afraid. One hand could still be strong, and some future professionals or some roulette drugs could even make the hand grow back.
William was only worried that once his hand was broken, the tentacle of the Throat Seizer would be freed. Whether it continued to attack and strangle his neck or went back to defend and kill the level-three Hellhound, it would drastically change the situation. The battlefield centered around them might collapse because of it.
As his vision darkened, a figure suddenly appeared beside him.
Covered in blood, Gemma appeared from nowhere. Her back was completely exposed, revealing a beautifully curved back. Compared to her burned face, her back skin was delicate and smooth.
However, a huge wound almost from her shoulder blade to her waist destroyed the beauty.
The wound might not be deep, but its length was shocking, slashing diagonally across her entire back, nearly a meter long, and oozing blood, forming blood curtains that starkly contrasted with her intact skin.
Despite such severe injuries and her exposed back, she acted as if nothing had happened. She grabbed the tentacle with one hand, and wielded the Edge of the Moon with the other hand, slashing at the tentacle.
Even in severe injury, her mind remained clear. She caught the Edge of the Moon but didn't slash the tentacle immediately, fearing Throat Seizer might retract it, making William's efforts pointless. Instead, she grabbed the tentacle first and then swung the knife.
Throat Seizer's face was full of anger. It was so close to breaking William's wrist! Just a little bit more!
But facing the Edge of the Moon, it had to retreat. It wasn't confident that its thin tentacle could withstand the white weapon's cut.
The tentacle didn't take Gemma seriously when she grabbed it, knowing she lacked the strength to hold it.
But Gemma anticipated this. As soon as the tentacle loosened from William's wrist, she halted her descending knife, yanked the tentacle, leaped up, and rolled, wrapping it around her body.
She then threw the Edge of the Moon to William, lowered her head, and bit the tentacle!
With both hands gripping the tentacle, she wrapped her body around it and bit it fiercely.
Throat Seizer suddenly tightened its grip on Gemma's slender waist, the sound of bones being crushed clearly audible. Blood immediately gushed from her mouth. Her hands and mouth, gripping the tentacle, were all bleeding due to the immense pulling force. Already drenched in blood, she now sprayed blood even more!
Many people saw this scene. Even though they knew Gemma was an ally, her ruthlessness made their scalps tingle.
Gemma, they realized, was a force of nature. She was ruthless to her enemies, but even more so to herself.
Those survivors who had previously harbored some disloyalty felt a chill run down their spines. They instinctively knew that if they ever did something to betray William or Cloud Peak Manor, Gemma alone would be their eternal nightmare.
William painfully caught the Edge of the Moon. Gemma had bought him the chance to free his right hand and a few seconds to recover from his injuries. Although his right hand still hurt like being smashed by a boulder with every movement, it could finally move slightly.
He struggled to use his relatively better thumb and little finger to grip the Edge of the Moon, then threw out the last Radiant Seal Blade Master skill at the Throat Seizer.
Knife Light and firelight covered the Throat Seizer, which was still immobile.
