Chapter 11 I Am Not a Widow
Emma cleared her throat and added, "Let me give you a friendly reminder, Alexander's power is unimaginable. There are not many people in this world who dare to easily offend him. If you insist on going against him, there is only one dead end!"
Of course, Ivy knew that Alexander had immense power, and she had never thought of offending him. She was just worried about her children being known to Alexander.
After thinking for a moment, Ivy answered, "As long as I don't have to squeeze someone's feet, I will go to work tonight."
"Okay, no problem." Emma finally completed her task and had a fulfilled expression on her face.
After Emma left, Maria asked in a low voice, "Do you not want people to know about your children?"
Ivy didn't know how to respond for a moment.
"Are you afraid it will be difficult to find a boyfriend if you have children?" Maria asked again.
Saying this, Maria sympathetically patted Ivy on the back. "You're also a poor little widow."
"Ah? No, I'm not a widow, I..." Ivy wanted to say that she hadn't gotten married yet, just pregnant before marriage, but she swallowed her words.
"Maria, can you not say that I'm a widow? It sounds bad to me." Ivy pleaded pitifully.
"Fine, I won't say it. We won't mention this word again!" Maria instantly nodded.
"Maria, thank you." Ivy hugged Maria gratefully, then said, "Since I work the night shift, I can help you during the day, doing things like laundry and cleaning. It's not like I have anything else to do."
"Is that okay? Won't you get tired?" Though Maria asked this, she actually hoped that Ivy would help her. The hotel wasn't too busy, but there were many rooms. In order to save money, Maria hadn't hired any employees, and cleaning all by herself every day was indeed tiring.
"I won't get tired. Let's say I'm earning meals for the children." Ivy got to work right away, putting on an apron.
When she was pregnant, Ivy worked as a waitress, specifically doing tasks like carrying plates, washing dishes, and cleaning. These were her strengths and she not only worked quickly and efficiently, but also developed many special skills.
In less than an hour, Ivy had cleaned all the rooms in the hotel. At the same time, she also stewed vegetables, brewed coffee, watered the plants, and cleaned the mop. Lastly, she even hung up the clothes from the washing machine.
"Maria, is there anything else to do?" Ivy clapped her hands and asked Maria.
Maria checked everywhere, but couldn't find any missed spots. The clean environment satisfied her greatly, causing her to exclaim in amazement, "You finished half a day's work in just an hour. Is it because you're too young or I'm getting old?"
"Maria, you are not old at all, and it's not that I'm too young. I just used a method of planning and coordination, which saved a lot of time."
"What do you mean by planning and coordination? Tell me more," Maria eagerly asked with a curious expression.
Ivy explained, "It means using time wisely and arranging the workflow. For example, if we were to do tasks like laundry, cooking, cleaning, and watering plants one by one, it would take at least two to three hours. But if we do them simultaneously, we can finish within an hour. We can start by putting the clothes in the washing machine to wash, and while the washing machine works, we can cook the stew. While the stew is cooking, we can water the plants and clean. By the time cleaning is done, the clothes will be washed and the stew will be ready. It saves a lot of time, doesn't it?"
"Makes sense. I've lived for so long, but I never knew about planning and coordination." Maria regretfully pounded the table. "Reading books is better, you learn so much from them."
Seeing Maria's expression, Ivy couldn't help but smile and sigh.
Just then, six little girls rubbed their sleepy eyes and gathered around Ivy one by one.
"Mommy, good morning!"
"Mommy, will we have meat today?"
"Mommy, I want to eat meat too..."
All the children wanted to eat meat, which made Ivy extremely embarrassed. Maria wasn't very wealthy either, so the stews they made usually consisted mainly of vegetables. Ivy had to console the children, saying, "Can you wait a little longer? Mommy will go to work tonight and come back to make steak for you."
