Chapter 748 Something Doesn't Feel Right

Samantha glanced at Ivy, who was plucking weeds outside the door, and whispered, "Mr. Ashford, aren't you unable to forget Annabel? I can't let go of Richard either. So let's work together to break them up. This way, you'll have a perfect family, and I'll get the person I want!"

Hearing this, Ivy immediately regretted it.

Why did Samantha say that? Didn't she promise to help persuade Beckett?

Does she really not let go of Grandpa Richard? If she had known this, she would have advised Annabel to choose Beckett. What a mess!

Beckett hesitated at Samantha's suggestion, "Is this really a good idea? Won't Annabel hate me..."

Samantha shrugged indifferently and said, "Let her hate you if she wants. As long as she's with you, you'll be satisfied, right? After all, you only care about having a happy family, not whether Annabel is truly happy, right?"

"Who said that?" Beckett said solemnly, "I am not that kind of person! If Annabel is determined to choose Richard, I will never force her to stay with me!"

With a stern tone, he continued, "Miss, I advise you to be kind and not selfishly break up others for your own happiness. Such behavior is very selfish!"

"I am being selfish, huh..." Samantha feigned confusion, "I truly love Richard. I love him so much, what's wrong with keeping him by my side?"

"But..."

"He doesn't love you, he loves Annabel!" Beckett exclaimed.

"So what? Don't you also love Annabel? If you can snatch her away from Richard, he won't have a choice, and I can be with him!" Samantha retorted.

"It's impossible!" Beckett's face turned cold. "Madam, please leave! I will not stoop down to your level!"

Samantha turned around and gestured an "OK" sign to Ivy at the door.

Then she turned back, feigning unwillingness. "No, I will break them up. I've finally set my sights on that old man, why should he be stolen away by some old lady?"

"What do you plan to do?" Beckett glared at Samantha.

Samantha calmly replied, "I'm going to announce to the media that Annabel, as the matriarch of the Ashford family, is two-timing, having a man of her own yet wanting to steal someone else's husband!"

"Do you dare?" Beckett's face filled with anger. "Annabel and I ended things twenty years ago. She is no longer the matriarch of the Ashford family and has the right to pursue her own happiness! Furthermore, as far as I know, Richard and Annabel have already had a wedding. They are already married, and you have no right to ruin them. Richard is not your husband, he is Annabel's husband!"

Outside, Ivy, pretending to pick grass, heard this and immediately walked in with her phone in hand.

"Grandfather, what did you just say? Who is Annabel's husband?"

Samantha pointed at Beckett intentionally. "Him, he said it himself!"

Beckett, unsure of the deception, responded angrily, "I didn't say it's me; I said it's Richard. Richard and Annabel have already had a wedding and are already married. It's a factual marriage that no one can break!"

Upon hearing this, Ivy raised her thumb towards Beckett. "Grandfather is right. They have already had a wedding and a factual marriage. They are the true couple!"

Beckett's eyes sank, feeling that something was not right.
