Chapter 25 Where Are the Six Pythons?
Alexander really wanted to know how big the pythons Ivy kept were. If they were adult pythons, the appetite of one snake could rival that of several adults. And with six of them, it went without saying.
He didn't understand why Ivy, who had trouble supporting herself, would still keep six large pythons. Animals reproduce quickly, and before long, the big snake would give birth to little snakes, turning Ivy's home into a snake den.
No, he must help this woman get out of this misery!
With that in mind, Alexander stood up, squinting his hawk-like eyes, and said, "Since you're alone, why do you need to work two jobs? Ivy, starting today, you will work full-time at Blossom Fitness Club. I'll pay you double the salary, provide food and accommodation, and you can live at the club. What do you think?"
"What's the double salary?" Ivy raised an eyebrow, a bit confused. If they calculated it based on a cleaner's salary, she currently earned $150 a day, so double would be $200. But if they calculated it based on a foot masseuse's salary, she earned a million dollars for a foot massage. So would double be two million dollars?
"You can name any amount," Alexander replied.
Sitting back on the edge of the bed, he elegantly folded his long legs and spoke unhurriedly, "If you want to clean, it's 500 dollars a day. If you want to give me a foot massage, it's two million dollars a day!"
Two million dollars!
It sounded wonderful, but what would happen to the six little girls once she left? Besides, Alexander was so unreliable. He would raise or cut her salary without warning. Who knows if he would raise her salary today and lower it tomorrow?
Thinking of this, Ivy didn't hesitate to refuse, "Thank you, Mr. Ashford, but I'll stick with my two jobs. I've become accustomed to my current life."
"You're not accustomed to your current life; you just can't bear to part with the six pythons!" Alexander stood up, his expression cold, and said, "Where are the six pythons? Show me!"
"Six pythons?" Ivy was instantly stunned.
Emma, looking apologetic, said, "I'm sorry, Ivy. I told Mr. Ashford about you raising pythons. After all, he is my boss, and I can't keep secrets from him..."
"You... you're a traitor!" Ivy pointed angrily at Emma.
Thankfully, Emma hadn't seen the six little girls that day, or else Alexander would know about her giving birth to six daughters.
"I'm sorry, Ivy. I really am." Emma kept apologizing.
"I don't accept your apology." Ivy put her hand on her waist and pointed to the door, saying, "Isn't the home visit over? Go on, I won't see you out!"
"Ivy!" Alexander lowered his eyes with a cold voice, "Are you telling me to leave?"
Ivy moved her mouth but didn't dare to say a word. She almost forgot that he had just helped her resolve the matter with Kayla. She wanted to send him away without even having a sip of coffee. Wasn't that too heartless?
"Mr. Ashford, I, I, I just..." Ivy said hesitantly.
"Just what? Don't want me to see the six pythons?" Alexander took a step closer with his handsome face up close, scrutinizing Ivy.
"I... actually, there are no snakes in my house. I was just scaring Emma. If you don't believe me... you can search for yourself." To prove what she said was true, Ivy generously let Alexander tour the entire hotel.
"Fine, this is what you said!" Alexander strode forward, checking each room in the hotel one by one.
Emma stayed close behind Alexander, nervously looking around, afraid of being suddenly startled by a large python.
Alexander inspected every room in the hotel but found nothing. He stared at Emma with cold eyes, "Where are the snakes?"
"I... I don't know." Emma shook her head in frustration.
You don't know? Alexander's lips curled with a hint of amusement. It seemed that Ivy didn't keep any snakes, and Emma was deceived by her.
"Ivy!" Alexander cleared his throat, "Since you don't have any pythons to take care of, why don't you accept my offer of working full time?"
