Chapter 639: Lord and Laura

As soon as the young storyteller finished speaking, Ivy swiftly poked three red lanterns.

Each of the three lanterns contained a treasure chest.

The young storyteller was stunned, not knowing what to say.

Meanwhile, Ivy continued to puncture every visible red lantern, at least fifty or sixty of them.

Inside each one was a treasure chest, not a single one empty.

"Give me one, give me one!" the young storyteller finally reacted, but all the treasure chests had been automatically sucked in by the space ring.

"You... how much good fortune have you accumulated?" the young storyteller mumbled in envy and disappointment.

Just then, another yellow lantern suddenly turned red.

Before the young storyteller could poke it, Ivy said, "I'll help you!"

She pierced the red lantern, revealing a treasure chest inside.

"Mine!" the young storyteller immediately snatched the treasure chest, afraid that Alexander would take it or Ivy's space ring would suck it in.

"Open it and see what's inside," Alexander curiously said.

"I'll wait until no one's around to open it," the young storyteller stashed the treasure chest in his pocket.

Alexander didn't really care and turned to Ivy, saying, "Ivy, let's go back and buy a lottery ticket. With your luck, we'll never have to worry about food and drink for the rest of our lives!"

Ivy laughed heartily, "Hahaha, alright! Let's buy tens of thousands of lottery tickets and bankrupt all the lottery companies!"

Just as they were laughing happily, a couple of elderly people appeared in front of them.

Both were dressed in traditional clothes, the man sporting long hair and the woman with a bun.

"Ancestral elders!" the young storyteller excitedly reported, "Your descendants are truly incredible! They punctured dozens of red lanterns, and each one contained a treasure chest! The first chest they opened contained a space ring, it's truly miraculous!"

"Oh? Is that so?" the man laughed heartily, "As expected of the descendants of the Lewis family! Alexander, how many treasure chests did you get? Can you give one to your old ancestor?"

Old ancestor?

Are the Lewis family's ancestral elders so young?

Did the old ancestor reincarnate into a lower generation?

Ashamed, Alexander said, "Old ancestor, I didn't poke any treasure chests. My wife, Ivy, poked all of them."

Upon hearing Alexander address him as old ancestor, Ivy suddenly realized, "You must be Lord, Annabel's father!" She then turned to the lady beside him and asked, "Are you surnamed Baldwin?"

Laura and Lord's story, she had heard from Richard.

The two elderly people exchanged a glance and smiled, confirming Ivy's speculation.

It was indeed them!

Using her consciousness to control the space ring, Ivy spewed out two treasure chests.

She handed one to Lord and one to Laura.

"These two treasure chests are for you. However, I don't know what's inside, so open them and see for yourselves!"

Lord and Laura couldn't contain their joy as they opened the treasure chests and found a Magic Pearl in each.

"This is wonderful,
"We also have the Magic Pearl now."
"Yes, from now on, we no longer need to rely on the spirit leaves to prolong our lives. With the Magic Pearl, we can achieve immortality!"
The two elders happily swallow the Magic Pearl.
Curiously, Ivy asks, "Are you two now humans or spirits?"

These two individuals committed suicide more than twenty years ago!
Lord answers, "We are not spirits. Because of a misunderstanding with our youngest daughter, Annabel, and Fiona's misdeeds, we felt like failures and could not live with our dignity intact, so we chose to end our lives.

But after we were buried, we were saved by a little spirit messenger from the spirit realm. He said that we had taken care of the spirit tree for years, nourishing its spiritual veins and contributing to the spirit realm, so he saved us and allowed us to live in the spirit realm."
Ivy nods, understanding the situation. Thinking about the golden leaves on the tree, she asks, "Did the Lewis family become wealthy because of the spirit tree? When I arrived earlier, I noticed many golden leaves falling from the tree!"

Lord is surprised to hear this, "The tree drops golden leaves? This is the first time I've heard of it. The wealth of the Lewis family has nothing to do with the spirit tree. When we were alive, we had no knowledge that this tree was a spirit tree.

I simply had a special fondness for this tree, which is why I watered it every day, fertilized it regularly, occasionally plucked a leaf and played a tune on it. I never knew it was a spirit tree, let alone that there was an entrance to the spirit realm within the tree trunk."
The little spirit messenger then says, "The leaves of the spirit tree have their own consciousness and do not easily fall. Only when they encounter someone with greater spiritual power will they drop golden leaves as a sign of submission. Could it be... that the tree wants to submit to you?"
