Chapter 22 It's Truly a Narrow Road Full of Enemies
When getting off the car, Emma felt fear and trepidation at the thought of Ivy's family keeping six meat-loving "pythons."
"Mr. Ashford, are you afraid of snakes?" she asked.
"What do you mean?" Alexander turned his face.
In just a moment of being stared at, Emma displayed countless expressions, slightly shy and slightly frightened, as she said, "Ivy's family has many large pythons, and they even eat meat. You should be careful..."
"Pythons?" Alexander was very surprised. He hadn't expected Ivy to like keeping such things. "How many does she have?"
"Six!" Emma said.
"Six?" Suddenly, Alexander thought of something.
Damn it, could Ivy's unemployed wanderers be these six snakes?
If that were the case, this woman didn't deserve sympathy at all. Take the incident from four years ago as an example, she was simply heartless, just as cold-blooded and ruthless as a snake.
With this mindset, Alexander stepped into Maria's small inn.
There were a pair of men and women hastily checking out, the woman reluctantly said, "Why are we in such a rush to leave? I haven't slept all night, I'm exhausted!"
The voice sounded familiar, causing Ivy to instinctively look up.
But before she could get a clear look at the woman's face, she was already being dragged away by a man. "Stop wasting time and hurry up. My wife is coming to catch us red-handed. If you don't want to make a fool of yourself, then leave quickly."
"This is despicable. When will you divorce her already..." That woman shouted.
"Now is not the time for that. Hurry up and leave, don't let her catch you!" The man said impatiently.
Upon hearing these words, Alexander felt extremely disgusted. So, it turns out that the people staying here are all having one-night stands. Can Ivy remain unaffected in such an environment?
Ivy didn't notice Alexander's arrival as she grabbed a broom and went to clean the just-vacated room.
It was obvious that a fierce battle had taken place. There were papers everywhere, both on the bed and on the floor, in a filthy state.
Emma really wanted to tell Ivy that the boss had arrived. However, Alexander signaled her not to speak and quietly observed Ivy.
Just as Ivy finished cleaning up a pile of papers, the woman hurriedly returned and began rummaging through the bed.
Ivy finally recognized who the woman was. It was Kayla, her once closest friend who had betrayed her four years ago by being involved with her boyfriend, Leo.
In four years, Ivy didn't expect Kayla to have fallen so far as to become a third party. She thought that after divorcing her, Leo would marry Kayla directly.
"Kayla, what are you looking for?" Ivy lightly curved her red lips.
At this shout, Kayla turned her face in surprise, "Ivy?"
The thought of Ivy exposing the picture of her and Leo in bed from four years ago infuriated Kayla beyond measure.
"It's been four years, and you're actually hiding here!" Kayla asked.
Ivy shrugged. "I haven't done anything wrong, so why should I hide? I'm just working here."
"So, you're a cleaner now. A person like you, with no skills, is only fit to be a cleaner, tirelessly cleaning all kinds of garbage every day. It's really not easy!" Kayla said mockingly.
"Yeah, someone like you, no one wants you except as a mistress, tirelessly serving all sorts of men every day. It's not easy either!" Ivy intentionally sighed.
"You..." Kayla's face contorted in anger, but she didn't know how to retort.
After rummaging through the bedside table, with an unpleasant expression on her face, she reached out her hand to Ivy. "Hand it over!"
"What?" Ivy was puzzled.
"You know what I mean!" Kayla said coldly.
"What do I know? I don't even know what you want." Ivy furrowed her eyebrows.
"Are you pretending not to know?" Kayla snatched the broom from Ivy and began searching through Ivy's pockets.
"What are you doing? Why do you have the right to search me?" Ivy was furious, clenching her fists, prepared for a fight at any moment.
"Wanna Fight? Are you a match for me?" Kayla extended her hand again. "Hand it over! My 80 grams of pure gold bracelet! Other than you, no one else would have taken it. Give it to me now, or don't blame me for what happens next!"
