Chapter 217 The Storm Was Coming
"Shut up!" Ivy rebuked him sternly with a serious face. "What are you saying? Don't you have elderly people in your family? What do you mean by 'should die'? Won't you grow old one day too? When you say someone should die, doesn't your conscience hurt?"
Ivy's series of questioning left James speechless.
After a while, he spoke again and was somewhat unwilling. "I am just worried that we will be burdened by the old lady. She is about to die, but we are all still young. We can't be ruined because of an elderly person with no family."
"You shut up!" Ivy pointed her finger at James. "If you say anything bad about the old lady again, you won't be allowed to board the plane later."
Thinking back to what James said through the loudspeaker when the car had just arrived, Ivy said angrily, "If something really happens to your employees, it will be all your responsibility.
"You knew the landslide had already started but you let everyone clean up the tools. Shouldn't you have let everyone run away as soon as possible? Are the tools more important than your employees' lives?"
James retorted in disagreement, "Even if they ran away at that time, it wouldn't have worked. Both sides of the road were blocked, right?"
"All right, what you said is correct!" Ivy replied sarcastically.
Since she couldn't reason with such people, she decided not to talk to him anymore.
James knew that Ivy was being ironic. He was angry but dared not argue with her. He was afraid that if they quarreled, Ivy wouldn't allow him to board the plane.
Another five minutes passed, and Alexander and the short employee hadn't returned.
The sky was dark with thick clouds, so it seemed like a storm was approaching.
"How come the plane hasn't come yet..." everyone murmured.
Ivy suddenly received a call from Alexander.
"Ivy, the thunderstorm is coming and the plane can't take off. Find a safe place to hide quickly and don't stay under the trees to prevent lightning strikes."
"Where is safe?" Ivy glanced at Anthony's car. "Can we get into the car?"
"No, the car isn't enough to withstand all the disasters of landslides and thunderstorms."
"Then where should we go? Can we go to the lumberyard?" Ivy was at a loss.
Upon hearing this, James was very unhappy and said, "What does your husband mean? The plane is not coming?
"My lumberyard is in a cave and the door has been locked. It cannot be opened. If you think it's safe, hide at the factory gate by yourselves. I will not be responsible if something happens!"
Alexander was very displeased to hear what James said on the phone.
"Ivy, bring everyone to take refuge in the back mountain. Leave now, move quickly, and you should be able to arrive before the storm arrives. I will meet you on the mountain."
"Understood, did you find the old lady?" Ivy asked.
"Not yet, we found the cave where she lives, but she isn't there. Come quickly. The most urgent thing right now is to avoid the storm. I think the cave where the old lady lives is very safe."
"Okay, we'll come over now." Ivy hung up the phone and immediately told her group to move to the back mountain.
James sneered. "I really thought you could get a helicopter to come. Turns out it was all bullshit..."
Ivy glared coldly at James. "The storm is coming, and the plane can't fly! Are you going to the back mountain or not? If you are not coming with us, stop talking!"
James was speechless.
At this time, all the employees at the lumberyard started expressing their own opinions.
A thin employee said, "Boss, let's go to the back mountain too. The old lady has lived there safely for decades, so it must be safe."
The employee with glasses agreed heartily, "Yes, the back mountain is high enough and can definitely withstand the storm."
The bigger sized employee said, "I won't go to the back mountain. If the mountain collapses, we won't have time to run away."
The oldest employee nodded. "Yes, this place is comparatively open. If a landslide occurs, we'll be able to escape more easily. Plus, it will be easier for the rescue team to find us."
The thinner employee couldn't accept this and said, "All you're thinking about is landslides? What about the storm? Lightning is bound to strike when the thunderstorm comes. Everywhere there are trees, which aren't safe, and this place is low-lying, so it will be easy to flood. It can't withstand the storm!"
"What kind of water will accumulate here?" The oldest employee looked disdainful. "There's a cliff outside the lumberyard. Those rocks can block cars, but how can they stop water?"
James interjected, "Everyone has their own opinions. Let's do this: those who think the back mountain is safe, go with them; those who think my side is safe, stay with me."
