Chapter 86 The Woman Who Made the Mistake
"What did you say?" After Maria glared at the tall maid, she knocked on the door of the fifth daughter's room.
"Ivy, dinner is ready. Come out with the fifth daughter."
Ivy opened the door ajar and asked, "Are we allowed to go out?"
"Well, I think it is fine to have a meal," Maria blushed and said.
The implication was that she did not get Alexander's approval.
"Maria..."
Ivy sighed softly. "If he didn't say anything, don't decide by yourself. Bring the food in. Don't let Mr. Ashford be unhappy."
"Okay." Maria went back to the dining room and took some food.
The tall maid said mockingly, "You are just a butler, do you consider yourself the head of the family? Mr. Ashford didn't say anything, how dare you ask the person who made a mistake to come to dinner? Fortunately, she didn't dare to come, otherwise, she would be even more embarrassed when Mr. Ashford comes."
Hearing the maid's words, Ivy couldn't help frowning. Why did this maid dare to be so arrogant in front of the housekeeper?
When Maria was about to take the roast chicken, the tall maid immediately picked up the plate and said, "This is for Mr. Ashford. Do you want to give it to the woman who made a mistake? Does she deserve it?"
"Even if she made a mistake, she is Mr. Ashford's wife. Who are you? Besides, I want to give it to the fifth daughter." Maria said unhappily, "Put the plate down!"
The tall maid didn't put down the plate, and she said jokingly, "What did you just say? The woman who made the mistake is Mr. Ashford's wife? I have come to the Ashford family for almost ten years, but I don't know Mr. Ashford is married."
The other servants covered their mouths and sneered, watching the fun.
"She is from the poor countryside, but she wants to become a noble lady. Does she deserve it?" The tall maid said sarcastically.
She pointed at Maria and said, "You are born with a poor look. You don't understand any rules, but you want to control us. We are all carefully selected by Mrs. Ashford, but you are just a friend of the woman who made the mistake."
The maid always said "the woman who made the mistake", which made Maria very angry. Maria put down the plate heavily and said, "If you say that again, I will tear your mouth apart!"
"Why are you so arrogant?" The tall maid pointed in Ivy's direction and said, "She made a mistake. If she didn't make a mistake, will Mr. Ashford ask her to stay in the room and reflect herself?"
Flames were burning in Maria's eyes. Her hands were clenched into fists, and she was about to beat the maid.
An old maid hurriedly persuaded the tall maid. "Well, take it easy."
"What am I afraid of? My backer is Mrs. Ashford." The tall maid stared provocatively at Maria and said, "If you dare to hit me, you will lose the position of the butler!"
Maria wore a hat with the word "Ashford" embroidered on it, which was the symbol of the butler of the Ashford family.
As soon as the tall maid said that, all the servants looked at the butler's hat in unison. If the hat fell off, who would be the next butler?
When the former butler wore this hat, he always supported it from time to time, reminding everyone that his rights were the greatest.
Seeing the tall maid was so arrogant, Maria couldn't stand it anymore. She took off her hat indifferently and slapped it hard on the dining table.
"Even if I lose this job, I will teach you a lesson!"
