Chapter 26 It's all your doing

"Ah?" Ivy vigorously waved her hands, shaking her head. "No, I'm not going. I've gotten used to living here, really used to it!"

Used to it? Alexander narrowed his eyes.

A daily salary of two million dollars, with food and accommodation included. How many people would dream of such a good opportunity? Yet Ivy remained indifferent!

Unable to contain himself, Alexander looked around. Just how magical could this rundown motel be? Why was Ivy so stubborn about not leaving?

"Would you go for a salary of five million dollars per day?" Alexander's cold gaze swept over Ivy.

Ivy shook her head.

"Why?" Alexander became somewhat annoyed. "Aren't you greedy for money? How can you find five million dollars not enough?"

"It's not about finding it less... it's about not being able to trust you." Ivy cleared her throat and boldly said, "Mr. Ashford, previously, I didn't want to work at the club, but you had Emma persuade me. She said I could choose any position and negotiate the salary. But after I went there, you made things difficult for me."

"Not only did you halve my salary and my working hours were multiplied, but you also demoted me from being a "mermaid" to a "janitor". Even as a janitor, I could earn at least two hundred and fifty dollars a night, but not only did I not make any money, I also accumulated a huge debt of six million dollars to you. I initially went to make money for my family, but in the end, it became about borrowing money while doing menial tasks. Mr. Ashford, once I pay off my debt to you, I will resign from the club!"

Ivy's words made Alexander feel somewhat guilty. His phone wasn't broken, and Ivy didn't owe him six million dollars.

However, when he thought about Ivy's refusal to take responsibility for what happened four years ago, he felt very angry. Could he really be blamed? Wasn't it this woman who had toyed with him first?

"It's all your doing!" Alexander's icy gaze stared directly at Ivy.

If she was willing to take responsibility for him, would he be so angry? Would he torment her?

"Yes, it's all my doing. I shouldn't have taken your phone. I deserve it!" Ivy angrily pointed at herself.

Damn it! Was he referring to the phone incident? Was he referring to what happened four years ago!

"Ivy, you're really good at pretending to be innocent!" Alexander glared at her resentfully.

When did she start pretending to be innocent?

Feeling innocent herself, Ivy's phone rang at that moment. Seeing that it was Maria's number, Ivy quickly answered it.

"Mommy, when are you coming? The steak has gotten cold!"

"Mommy, if you don't come soon, not only will the steak get cold, but we might finish eating it all..."

Hearing the voices of her children, Ivy's whole body tensed up with nerves.

Oh, God, Alexander was not far from her. Hopefully, he wouldn't hear the voices of her daughters.

Purposefully clearing her throat, she loudly said into the phone, "Maria, don't worry. I'm on my way to the room now. Your steaks won't get cold. I've finished cleaning, I'm going to the market now."

"Mummy, what are you saying, what market?"

"Mummy, it's us..."

On the other end of the phone, the six little girls tried hard to make themselves heard, wondering why Mummy wasn't answering their questions.

Worried that Alexander might hear the kids' voices, Ivy quickly hung up the phone.

Shortly after, the phone rang again, and Ivy hung up directly.

This abnormal behavior puzzled Alexander and Emma.

They hadn't actually heard the voice on the other end of the phone, but Ivy's reaction seemed highly unusual.

The phone rang again, and Ivy hung up once more.

"Why aren't you answering?" Alexander narrowed his dark eyes.
