Chapter 100 She Is a Decent Girl
Ethan felt Mrs. Ashford misunderstood Ivy very much. He really wanted to say something nice for Ivy, but he dared not. He had seen Alexander being slapped by Mrs. Ashford with his own eyes. Mrs. Ashford had a bad temper.
Since he couldn't speak for Ivy, Ethan just spoke from the point of view of Alexander, "You misunderstood Mr. Ashford. He only hired Ivy as a nanny. Ivy lives in a nanny's room with a monthly salary of only 285 dollars."
"Yeah." Leo quickly echoed, "Grandma, Ivy was indeed the nanny hired by Alexander. Her salary was only 285 dollars. I knew that, and I felt wrong for her then."
"Why didn't you explain it to me, kid?" Mrs. Ashford thought she just slapped Alexander. She regretted it.
"It was all Ivy's fault!"
Mrs. Ashford snorted coldly, "Hmph, even if it's a nanny, you can't hire Ivy. She is too scheming and poor-behaved. Two hundred eighty-five dollars is nothing. Even a janitor makes more than her. She was willing to do it. Why? Wasn't it because she wanted to seduce Alexander?"
Ethan frowned. He couldn't bear it anymore. He had to speak for Ivy, "Mrs. Ashford, Ivy is not that kind of person. She has always been righteous and self-respect!"
"Right. Ivy is not such a person. I know her." Leo followed up.
Leo couldn't let Annabel keep misunderstanding Ivy. Ivy's life would be in danger if it went on like that. She had already been hurt by Annabel with scissors. Hadn't she?
"You know her?" Mrs. Ashford sneered, "Didn't you say she had an abortion for you? An unmarried woman who sleeps with men casually..."
"Grandma, no. I lied. I just wanted you to help me take Ivy back from Alexander!"
Leo held Mrs. Ashford's hands and said sincerely, "Grandma, Ivy has always been a nice and kind girl. During our three years of relationship, she had never hurt me. Actually, I cheated on her many times. I thought she was bored and rigid. I didn't like her being that way."
"What did you say?" Mrs. Ashford looked at Leo in disbelief. "Are you sure of it? Is this another lie?"
Leo shook his head. "No, I'm not lying. I assure you. Ivy is a good girl. Because of that, I unconditionally tolerate her revenge on me on the wedding day. I did something wrong first. I can't blame her."
"Then why does she agree to work for Alexander with such a low salary? If she doesn't have other plans, why does she do that? Is it also to get revenge on you?" Annabel didn't believe it. She thought Ivy's deeds were very suspicious.
"Grandma, this is not revenge. Ivy got revenge on me. She doesn't hold grudges." Leo leaned forward and whispered, "Let me tell you the truth. Ivy agreed to work for Alexander with such a small salary for a reason."
"Oh? Say it!" Mrs. Ashford leaned forward immediately.
Leo whispered in Mrs. Ashford's ear, "Ivy has several family heirlooms, all of which are priceless, and Alexander has taken a fancy to them. He probably wants to buy Ivy's family heirloom, but Ivy refuses. So he snatches them up. He shamelessly says that Ivy is too weak to guard the heirlooms, so he will keep them safe for Ivy."
"Ivy has family heirlooms?" Mrs. Ashford doubted it. "Isn't she an orphan without parents? She is poor! Will there be family heirlooms?"
"Alexander said it himself. Ivy didn't want to be parted from her heirlooms, so she had to work here with such a low salary. She didn't come here for the money. She just wanted to see her heirlooms every day."
"She has family heirlooms? What kind of treasure is it?" Mrs. Ashford still didn't believe it. She looked at Ethan doubtfully, wanting to get the answer from him.
