Chapter 33 Pig

"I washed the chicken," Emma held out her hands.

"See, they're all wrinkled from soaking. If I didn't wash it properly, it wouldn't have turned out so delicious."

"So it's all thanks to you. I never knew the Club's HR manager was so talented, not only diligent at work but also skilled in the kitchen." Alexander's eyes locked sharply onto Emma.

"You flatter me, Mr. Ashford." Emma blushed with extreme shyness.

Seeing this expression, Ivy couldn't help but shudder.

Ignoring Emma completely, Alexander scooped rice into his bowl and enjoyed his meal in silence.

Assistant Ethan called. "Mr. Ashford, when are you coming back? Grandma Ashford is waiting for you at the company."

"Why is she at the company?" Alexander had a premonition of trouble.

"I don't know, and I dare not ask. You better come back early."

Alexander hung up, gulped down the soup in his bowl, and hastily excused himself. "There's an urgent matter at the company. Emma, take a cab later. Ivy, you have two days off, but make sure to come to work on time after two days!"

"Mr. Ashford..." Emma stood up hurriedly. She wanted to say she can leave now too.

It wasn't that she couldn't afford the taxi fare, but she wanted to seize every opportunity to be with Alexander and gain his attention.

Alexander paid no attention to Emma, quickly disappearing from the hotel.

Emma glanced at the table and casually said, "Ivy, something came up at home, so I'm leaving. You can clean up these dishes yourself."

"Goodbye," Ivy shrugged indifferently.

In her heart, she thought if Alexander were present, Emma would definitely compete with her to clean up the table.

Today's meal was truly worth it. At least now she understood what kind of person Emma was, and she would never form a deep relationship with someone like her.

Thinking that she had two days off, Ivy decided to spend some quality time with her children.

Six little girls were fishing for shrimp and fish by the river with Maria.

When they saw Ivy approaching, the children eagerly rushed over.

"Mummy, you finally came! I missed you so much, I even wanted to cry!" Sixth daughter hugged Ivy's leg, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I missed you too." Ivy picked up Sixth daughter and gave her a tight kiss.

"Little sister always cries." The eldest daughter shook her head and pointed at the bamboo rods in her hand. "Mummy, Grandma Clark cut six beautiful branches for us and also helped us catch a lot of worms to teach us fishing."

As Ivy walked over to Grandma Clark, she respectfully called out, "Auntie."

Grandma Clark smiled kindly. "Hello, Ivy. You're amazing, giving birth to six children in one go. My pig only gives birth to three piglets in one go. If I were as capable as you, I could make money this year. The price of pork is quite high. It's a pity my pig can't give birth!"

Ivy blushed, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Was Maria's mother complimenting her by saying she was more capable than a pig?
