Chapter 12 This is Your Compensation

"I'll buy it, I'll buy the meat!" Maria immediately grabbed her wallet and went to the supermarket to buy meat.

Soon, Maria came back with a bag of meat and vegetables.

Ivy was surprised, "Maria, how much meat did you buy?"

"Five pounds of beef, let them have a feast today." Maria used the largest pot to make delicious steak.

During dinner, the six little girls were overjoyed.

"Mommy, this is the most delicious meat I've ever had," Fourth daughter said with a greasy mouth.

"Yes, it is indeed the best. It's even tastier than what foreign chefs make," Second daughter wiped her mouth and directly reached out to grab the meat with her hand.

"No grabbing, use forks!" Eldest daughter scolded Second daughter and then struggled to pick up a big piece of meat with fork, handing it to Ivy's bowl. "Mommy, you should eat the steak too. Aunt Maria's meat is so delicious."

The other five followed suit. In no time, there were six steaks in Ivy's bowl.

Ivy was deeply moved. All thanks to Maria's help.

"Maria, thank you for being so good to the children, but meat is expensive. Buying five pounds of beef must have cost a lot. After I get my wages tonight, I will give you the money for the meat."

"Don't be polite with me. Can't I treat the children to a steak? Besides, you earned the money yourself. You've helped me so much early in the morning, and I haven't properly thanked you yet."

As Maria spoke, she raised her eyebrows. "Why don't you work part-time for me? The salary might be slightly less, but I'll provide food and accommodation for you and the children. Everything is taken care of."

"Really?" Ivy stood up excitedly, but then had some doubts. "No, that won't do. It's too much for you. There are seven of us! I don't need a salary, but I will do my best to help you with your work. Providing us with a place to stay and a meal for the children, I would be already content."

"Then you don't need a salary? I'll cover your food and accommodation?" Maria asked excitedly.

If she were to hire someone, she would have to pay at least three to four thousand dollars a year. She would also need to contribute toward their retirement insurance, which cost over ten thousand dollars a year.

Compared to that, the old house she rented to Ivy only cost a few thousand dollars a year. It was old and rundown, and besides Ivy, hardly anyone was willing to live there. As for food, Maria would eat what the children ate and occasionally add some meat. No matter how she thought about it, it was worth it. Moreover, Ivy was so capable, doing the work of two people.

"Alright, it's settled then. I will work at the club tonight. During the day, I can work at your house without asking for a salary, as long as I have food and a place to stay. Of course, if I earn money, I will also buy groceries. I won't let you do all the shopping alone since my family has many members." Ivy agreed to this arrangement, not because she was foolish, but because she had her own calculations.

This deal not only solved the problem of her and the children's living expenses but also gained her a nanny to take care of the children. If she were to hire a professional nanny, she would probably have to work multiple jobs. Now, with Maria taking care of the children for free, it seemed like a good deal no matter how you looked at it.

Both parties were satisfied, and so the deal became effective from today onwards.

In the evening, after finishing dinner, Ivy went to work at the Blossom Fitness Club.

As soon as she arrived at the aquarium, she saw Alexander sitting in the lobby, reading the newspaper with a serious expression. She immediately felt a bit nervous.

Why did Alexander come so early? Could it be that he wanted her to give him a foot massage again?

"Mr. Ashford, Ivy is here," Ethan whispered.

Alexander folded up the newspaper and waved at Ivy.

Nervously, Ivy walked forward and bowed, "Mr. Ashford."

Alexander handed her a large gift box, saying, "Take it."

"What is this?" Ivy took the gift box and opened it to find a designer dress with a price tag of $28,000. She was stunned.

What does he mean? Is this my uniform? $28,000 for a dress? What if I ruin it? I can't afford that.

Alexander's sharp black eyes stared directly at Ivy. "Didn't you ask me for compensation yesterday? This is your compensation!"
