Chapter 408: A Man's Tears Should Not Be Lightly Shed
Little Ivy quickly tiptoed and wiped Thomas' tears. "Thomas, don't cry. Grandpa Dean said, 'a man's tears should not be lightly shed!'"
Thomas wiped away his tears. "I wasn't crying, I was just deeply moved. Today is my birthday, Ivy, thank you for the flower crown. It's the most beautiful birthday gift I have ever received."
"Birthday?" Everyone was surprised.
"Let's celebrate Thomas' birthday!" Richard immediately took the children to a restaurant.
It was the happiest day for everyone.
Back at the orphanage, Ivy rummaged through her hidden treasures. She had various metal rings, hooks, colorful threads, and beads of different materials, all of which she had collected since she could string beads.
Since it was Thomas' birthday, she had to give him a decent birthday gift.
Little Ivy searched the box and found two metal rings of different sizes, as well as several beads of the same color. She then handmade a pair of earrings.
She also made a card, with the words "Happy Birthday, Thomas" written at the top. Below the text, she drew two children, a boy representing Thomas and a girl representing Ivy. In the middle of the two children, she drew a small red heart.
This drawing symbolized that she and Thomas would always be good friends, with their hearts connected forever.
After completing everything, Little Ivy put the card and earrings in a small box. She intended to give it to Thomas as his birthday gift.
It was already midnight, and everyone at the orphanage was asleep.
She quietly tiptoed into Thomas' room and placed the birthday gift she had prepared on his bedside.
At that time, she was only seven years old and didn't think there was anything wrong with giving earrings to a boy. She just thought it was something she had made with her own hands, representing her sincerity.
For the next few days, Ivy didn't see Thomas. She thought he didn't like the birthday gift and felt unhappy.
It was only after she asked Grandpa Dean that she found out Thomas' uncle and aunt had taken him away, saying they wanted to raise him.
Although Ivy was reluctant, she was still happy for Thomas, knowing that someone would take care of him.
But just a month later, Thomas returned to the orphanage on his own.
It turned out that his uncle and aunt had only taken Thomas to get the property left by his parents. Once they got the house, they showed their true colors and treated Thomas very poorly.
Thomas missed the life at the orphanage and came back on his own.
But this time, Thomas had two more ear piercings.
He had put on the pair of metal earrings that Ivy had given him.
When Ivy saw how swollen Thomas' ears were, she felt very sorry and said, "I gave you the earrings as a gift for you to keep, not for you to wear!"
Thomas had a strange expression. "Why didn't you say so earlier? These two ear piercings are for me..."
"I hurt myself with a needle, it was so painful!"
"Huh?" Ivy felt both sympathetic and surprised, how could Thomas be so foolish?
If she had known, she would have made a bracelet as a gift for Thomas.
"Ivy, I had your drawing engraved on these earrings."
Thomas took off one of the earrings and showed Ivy the letters on the earrings.
Ivy looked at it for a while but couldn't understand, "What is this? A heart in between two letters, that's not what I drew!"
