Chapter 501: Setting Fire to the House
After Scarlett finished speaking, she tied one of the children to herself with a strap and jumped out of the window.
Scarlett had learned some martial arts since she was young, so most of her so-called acting was actually doing dangerous stunts.
After doing so many stunts as a stunt double, jumping out of windows and rivers were a piece of cake for her.
However, she had just given birth to a child and her body was too weak to withstand such action.
But for the sake of revenge, Scarlett couldn't care less.
The snow was too deep, and the snowfall was heavy, with a chill in the air.
She struggled to walk through the snow.
No difficulty could stop her steps of revenge!
However, when they were still a distance away from the Qin family's residence, the child suddenly started crying.
Scarlett coaxed the child for a long time before the child gradually fell asleep.
Worried that the child would cry again and wake up their enemies, Scarlett decided to leave the child behind.
She wanted to put the child on the ground, but the ground was covered with thick snow, and she was afraid that the child would freeze to death.
Looking around, she spotted a crooked-neck tree with a sturdy nest on one of its branches.
She immediately climbed up the tree, wrapped the child tightly, placed them in the nest, and secured them with the strap before finally leaving.
The weather was exceptionally cold; even though the child was wrapped in warm clothes, without any adults for warmth, it was still freezing.
Scarlett couldn't bear to leave the child, but she had to seek revenge!
"Child, wait for mommy for half an hour!"
Scarlett made up her mind and left.
She silently promised that within half an hour, regardless of the success of her revenge, she must come back and take the child away!
At this time, the Qin family's residence was very quiet.
Isadora and Marcus were sound asleep in their second-floor bedroom.
There were no extra people in the courtyard, and the only maid, Beatrice, had already left the Qin family.
Scarlett leaped into the courtyard from the surrounding wall, went to the kitchen to grab a knife, and prepared to directly kill Isadora and Marcus.
But at this moment, something strange happened. The lochia that she had just given birth to began flowing uncontrollably.
Due to walking in the snow for too long, the cold penetrated her body, causing unbearable pain in her abdomen. She had no energy to climb the stairs and attack.
But if she didn't kill these two people, she and the child would be dead once dawn broke!
Thinking of the firewood and straw piled up in the backyard, Scarlett immediately had an idea. She poured cooking oil on the firewood, lit it, and set the shed on fire.
Exhausted, she flipped over the wall and quietly waited outside. Within five minutes, these two people would definitely wake up.
She had to make sure that these two people were dead before she could leave with peace of mind.
The fire quickly spread to the second-floor bedroom.
Marcus and Isadora panicked and got up.
But by this time, the mansion was already engulfed in flames. The beams were burning, the furniture was burning, and the door was burning. They had no way to escape the inferno.
In desperation, they had no choice but to jump out of the window.
They thought that there was deep snow outside, so even if they jumped, there would be no danger to their lives.
However, Scarlett had long been prepared and was waiting beneath the window.
"Did you both sleep well? If you think jumping out of the window can save you, well, it's too late now!"
"The house was stuffy to the point of suffocation. Why not open the window for some fresh air!"
"Scarlett, the fire was set by you!" Isadora shouted furiously, grabbing a fruit knife and throwing it at Scarlett.
Scarlett caught the knife with one hand and said, "Thank you for delivering the knife. Come on, let's jump! Either you die today or I perish!"
"I'll go first and go extinguish her!" Marcus heartlessly pushed Isadora aside and threw her into the sea of fire before jumping in himself.
Isadora instantly turned into a burning figure, her skin crackling.
She wanted to immediately jump out of the window, but the flaming cabinet suddenly collapsed, blocking her way.
Trapped in the sea of fire with nowhere to escape, she shouted desperately, "Marcus, you ungrateful scum! Even in death, I won't let you get away!"
