Chapter 629: Sir Lao Lao and Lady Lao
Ivy anxiously stared at the hole, hoping to witness a miracle, yet she dared not look.
Alexander, on the other hand, bravely approached the hole. "Sir Lao Lao, is this... the entrance to your home?"
Suddenly, a small piece of paper flew out of the opening, with two words written on it: come in!
"It really is the entrance!"
*Thud*
The pilot fainted on the spot.
Alexander had no intention of waking up the pilot; instead, he told Ivy, "Ivy, we don't need to shed our souls anymore. Sir Lao Lao has opened the door for us. We can simply walk in!"
"Then... let's go in together!" Ivy said, slightly fearful.
Hand in hand, the couple walked into the hole, following the trail of green smoke.
They had initially thought that inside the hole would be a tomb, at most containing two coffins.
However, upon entering the hole, they discovered that it concealed an entirely different world.
Green mountains and rivers, birdsong and fragrant flowers; a divine atmosphere surrounded them, with vermilion walls and blue tiles, resembling a fairyland.
As soon as they caught sight of this world, the door behind them automatically closed.
When they looked up, a ancient city appeared before them.
People passed by on the streets, handsome men and beautiful women were everywhere. Some were singing while enjoying wine, some were admiring flowers together, and others were strolling in pairs under the glow of the lanterns. Everywhere, there was a scene of prosperity.
There truly was another world underground!
Ivy was glad she had followed along, otherwise, her child's father would surely have been snatched away by a beautiful female ghost!
Just as she was thinking this, an old man in robes suddenly appeared before them.
"Ashford Alexander, Madame, I am the steward of Sir Lao Lao. He wishes to meet the Ashford family. Please follow me!"
Oh, it seems Sir Lao Lao is living rather comfortably here, with a steward to attend to him!
The steward led Alexander and Ivy to a luxurious mansion.
Announcing loudly, "Sir Ashford, your descendants have arrived!"
An elderly man with silver hair and a youthful face walked out of the mansion, leaning on a dragon-headed cane.
He kindly beckoned, "Alexander, come here and bring Ivy with you!"
Alexander immediately took Ivy's hand and said, "Let's go, let's visit Sir Lao Lao's house!"
"Alright!" Ivy happily agreed.
This world was truly amazing, and she wanted to explore it thoroughly.
The mansion of the Ashford family was as magnificent as a prince's mansion. Not to mention the scale, even the courtyard alone was as big as a school playground.
The yard was filled with many flowers and plants.
Just by looking at these plants, Ivy could tell they were extraordinary, rare and unusual flowers and herbs that couldn't be found in the mortal realm. They were rich in spiritual energy, surely possessing the effects of Thomas's creations.
In one corner of the yard, there was a large pot that constantly emitted hot steam, but Ivy couldn't see what was being cooked inside.
An elderly lady with silver hair was tending to the fire, assisted by two other elderly ladies with grey hair as they added firewood.
Three middle-aged ladies in cheongsams were fanning themselves with hand fans to help with the heat.
Next to them, four young and beautiful women were busy chopping firewood, all joyfully engaged in their tasks.
Alexander
Both Ivy and Alexander were puzzled as to why here, chopping firewood, a laborious task, was being done by young women. Shouldn't it be something men do?
The old patriarch smiled warmly, pointing to the silver-haired old lady and introducing her, "Alexander, Ivy, this is your great-grandmother, my legal wife. I heard that you were coming, so she personally started the fire and wants to cook delicious food for you."
Alexander and Ivy looked at each other in surprise. The food here... can it be eaten?
"Shouldn't you address her as great-grandmother?" the old patriarch's expression grew serious.
"Yes, great-grandmother!" Alexander and Ivy immediately greeted.
The great-grandmother couldn't contain her joy and smiled broadly, "Hello, my great-grandson and great-granddaughter-in-law!"
She lifted the lid of the pot and said to the two of them, "Come and take a look, great-grandmother has cooked something for you. Thousand-year ginseng, thousand-year Polygonum multiflorum, thousand-year soft-shelled turtle. Are there any that you like to eat?"
