Chapter 644: Nearly 200 Descendants
Upon hearing Cloude's words, Alexander and Ivy finally understood why Lord had asked them to rescue him. There were just too many descendants of Lord, and everybody wanted to lay claim to the ancestral home.
The only solution at the moment was to make the Lewis family ancestral home disappear along with the spirit tree. And it was necessary for everyone to witness its disappearance in order for them to fully give up on it.
Before long, all the descendants of Lord's 21 sons appeared. Some were journalists, some were lawyers, some drove small cars, and some rode electric scooters. Nearly 200 people rushed over enthusiastically.
"Who wants to lay claim to the Lewis family property? Step forward!"
The oldest elder, leaning on a cane, stepped forward and shouted hoarsely, "I am Storme Lewis, the eldest son of Lord. Other than me, no one else has the right to touch this ancestral home!"
"Uncle is right!" Cloude immediately flattered.
Storme swung his cane at Cloude, "Cloude, what kind of person are you? Don't think I don't know, you're always scheming to take over the ancestral home! Your grandmother was the youngest concubine of my father. There is no way you can lay a finger on this ancestral home!"
Cloude arrogantly retorted, "So what if my grandmother was a concubine? Isn't your mother also a concubine?"
"Who said that?" Storme thundered, "I am Lord's eldest son, and according to tradition, the mother is honored through her son. I am the eldest son, so my mother is the lawful wife. Other than my mother, all of Lord's other wives are concubines!"
Cloude pointed at Alexander, "But he said that his great-grandmother Laura was the lawful wife because back then Lord favored daughters over sons. Besides Laura, the other wives gave birth to sons, so Lord specifically favored Laura and made her the lawful wife!"
Storme walked forward incredulously, "So you are Fiona's descendant?"
Alexander shook his head, "My grandmother is Annabel, and my grandfather is Beckett!"
"Annabel! Hahaha..."
Storme suddenly burst into laughter, "From ancient times, a daughter who marries is like water thrown out, and family property has always been passed down to sons. Even if my father favored girls, the ancestral home would still only be passed on to Eldie Fiona. You are Annabel's grandson, what right do you have to compete for my father's property? Even if all of our sons of this generation were dead, there would still be grandsons. How could it ever be your turn, an outsider as a great-grandson, to inherit it?"
"That's right!"
"He's right!"
Everyone thought Storme made a valid point.
Cloude pointed at Alexander and said to Storme, "Uncle, he said he has the deed to the Lewis family ancestral home. He just had a video call with Annabel, and she said Lord had already given her the ancestral home and the title deed. Anyone who dares to compete with her for this property will be sent to jail!"
"Absurd!" Storme shouted in anger, "Many years ago in the mountains, no one governed the area. Whoever had the money could build a house there, it didn't matter how big. Without any governance, where would there be a land deed? If Annabel truly has a land deed, let her show it to us!"
Alexander and Ivy exchanged a glance, finally realizing that Annabel had intentionally deceived Cloude. This old mansion had no land deed to speak of.
At that moment, a woman who looked like a journalist stepped forward.
She held a microphone, and confidently said, "You must be the wealthiest man in ancient Europe, Mr. Ashford. With all the wealth you already possess, why do you need to fight with the Lewis family descendants for a property that doesn't even belong to you? Is all your wealth gained through such unfair means of usurpation?"
Alexander's lips curled slightly, "Have all the descendants of the Lewis family assembled?"
The female journalist replied coldly, "Indeed, they have. What do you intend to do?"
