Chapter 743 How Could You Bear to Do This?
The head chef felt completely humiliated and wiped his face. He quickly said to the group of kitchen assistants, "Hurry up, wash rice and vegetables, quickly cook meals for the boss's children, don't let them go hungry!"
The kitchen assistants had long suspected that the head chef was embezzling money. His embezzlement not only deprived the children of good food but also affected everyone's work meals. They were all holding in their anger; no one wanted to help the head chef.
"What are you all staring at? Wash the rice! Wash the vegetables!" The head chef became furious. "If you don't start working, each of you will be deducted five points!"
One point was equivalent to $10, so five points meant $50. Some people were scared and silently went to wash the vegetables.
"Too late!" Amelia said unceremoniously, "We've decided to eat at a restaurant!"
Then she turned to the others and said, "Those of you who want to continue working here, write me a sincere reflection that can move all 18 of us to tears. If you can't do that, then leave right now. My kindergarten doesn't welcome selfish and self-serving individuals!"
After speaking, she waved her little hand and left the kitchen with her siblings and bodyguards.
Just at that moment, Alexander and Ivy arrived together.
Seeing the children and bodyguards coming out of the kitchen, they thought they had already eaten.
"Daddy!"
"Mummy!"
The little ones rushed over excitedly.
Ivy smiled and asked the children, "What delicious dishes did the kitchen make today? How many dishes are there? Is there any leftover? Dad and Mom haven't eaten yet!"
Amelia smiled weakly and replied, "Sorry, Mommy, I just fired the head chef at the kindergarten. As for the teachers and staff, I made them write self-reflections and decide whether to stay or leave based on their performance."
"What happened? What's going on?" Ivy suddenly had a bad feeling.
Alexander furrowed his brow. How dare someone bully his children?
One of the children said, "Daddy, Mommy, I'm so hungry. The chef here thinks we eat too much and doesn't give us food. The teachers here are the same, they hide in the kitchen and eat secretly, totally ignoring us. Let's go eat at a restaurant!"
Furious, they rushed to the kitchen and witnessed a shocking scene. The head chef was stuffing a large plastic lunch box into a similarly-sized handbag.
One kitchen staff member said, "Why are you doing these things even after being fired? You embezzled more than $30,000 over a year. Isn't that enough?"
Another employee said, "There's only this little bit of beef, can't we have some too?"
"The words of a little kid are not to be taken seriously!" the head chef stuffed the beef into the bag, warning them, "Let me tell you, stop talking nonsense. That kid was just complaining because they didn't get any food. Don't blindly follow their disruptive behavior! Also, this beef was bought by me when I went to the vegetable market, and I used my own money. I only used the kitchen's seasonings and cooked it here."
The head chef's explanation left the others speechless.
Alexander stepped forward and reached for the head chef's chest.
With a stern look, he said, "The beef you have in your lunch box is prime beef, priced at $93. You only paid back $90, and that money didn't come out of your own pocket, but from the kindergarten's daily purchasing fund!"
"Today, you cooked two dishes and a soup: beef stew with potatoes, stir-fried cabbage, and egg soup. The beef is the lowest-grade beef, half the price of prime beef, and yet you still can't bear to buy more. In the beef and potato dish, you added a lot of carrots because you were worried there wouldn't be enough beef. And for the stir-fried cabbage, you added a lot of salt because you were worried there wouldn't be enough cabbage."
"Not to mention the egg soup, you only put ten eggs for hundreds of children. How can such a small amount of beef and eggs provide enough nutrition for all these children? How could you bear to do this? Has your conscience been eaten by dogs?"
