Chapter 42 Let Mommy Offer Herself
Upon hearing that her daughter was to be buried with Ivy, Maria's mother fainted on the spot in fear. Alexander quickly arranged for bodyguards to send Maria's mother to the hospital and instructed them, "Accompany her throughout the journey and make sure nothing happens to her!"
Although she hadn't known Ivy for long, they were close friends who confided in each other. Even if Ivy died, she would bring back Ivy's remains. Originally planning to wait until things calmed down before searching for the body, since Alexander insisted on going now, they might as well bring back Ivy's remains while they could.
Maria sat at the back of a car with six little girls while Ethan drove and Alexander sat in the passenger seat. Dozens of Ashford family bodyguards followed behind them in an orderly fashion as they headed towards Missouri.
Inside the car, Alexander repeatedly called out Ivy's name in his heart.
Ivy! You're a mermaid from Flower Aquarium; your water skills are so good that I believe you'll be fine!
Ivy! You're my only woman who dared to offend me; you must take responsibility till the end and I won't allow anything bad happen to you!
Ivy! You have to stay alive for me!

The six little girls had never met their biological father before and didn't know who Alexander was. However, ever since he promised them he would save their mommy, they felt very fond of him.
While Alexander silently called out Ivy’s name inside his head，the six little ones huddled together whispering:
"What do you think about this uncle?"
"He is our only hope when it comes saving our mommy. I like him a lot."
"I like him too, and he seems very kind. Do you think he could be our dad?"
"No way! Mommy said that our dad died long ago."
"Ah! If only this uncle was really our daddy!"
"I have an idea: if he can save mommy, we'll let her offer herself to him so that he can become our real father."
"That's a great idea; I agree."
"So do I..."
Maria never expected that her six daughters would sell Ivy in such a way. She couldn't help but smile inwardly, even though Ivy had already...
Ethan overheard the children's conversation with his sharp ears and found it hilarious. He almost burst out laughing but quickly stopped himself when he saw his master's serious expression.
Upon arriving at Missouri, Alexander immediately got out of the car. All roads in Missouri were flooded and muddy due to recent earthquakes; it was now a disaster area where aftershocks might occur soon. Some personnel guarded the entrance of the village.
One of them asked Alexander, "What are you doing here? This place just experienced an earthquake; it is now a disaster area where aftershocks may occur soon. Please leave as soon as possible!"
"I'm looking for someone and will leave as soon as possible," replied Alexander while waving behind him with dozens of bodyguards following him towards the riverbank in Missouri.
"Hey, don't go there! There are whirlpools in that river which is rising rapidly right now - it’s very dangerous!" The personnel quickly tried to stop them.
"Understood!" Alexander turned around with a smile on his face and looked gently at the six children before speaking softly: "Promise me you'll stay inside the car with Uncle Ethan and not run around! As long as you behave well and listen carefully, I promise to rescue your mommy!"
"We promise to behave well."
"We guarantee not to run around."
"Uncle, please be careful..."
"You and the bodyguards must also be careful..."
The children's words made Ethan, Maria teared up uncontrollably.
"No results mean no landing ashore!" Alexander turned resolutely and waved his hand before jumping into the river with dozens of bodyguards.
