Chapter 406: The Injured Boy

Upon seeing this peculiar sign, Ivy's memories involuntarily went back to her childhood. It was when Ivy was seven years old and suddenly, an injured boy of ten appeared at the orphanage. Because he was all dirty and his clothes were tattered, no one liked to play with him, and no one wanted to sit near him during meals.

Little Ivy felt sorry for this boy and voluntarily sat next to him during mealtime, even giving him the meat in her own bowl to eat. However, instead of being grateful, the injured boy became angry and said, "Who gave you the right to put things in my bowl? Take it back!"

Little Ivy had never seen such fierce eyes before. She was somewhat afraid but also confused. She pitifully explained, "Brother, you're too thin. I wanted you to eat more so that no one would bully you anymore."

"I'm not your brother, don't call me that so casually," the injured boy glared at little Ivy with hostility and then placed the meat back into her bowl.

Unwilling to give up, little Ivy said, "The children who come to the orphanage are all siblings. Since you're older than me, naturally, you're my brother."

"I said I'm not, so I'm not. Stay away from me in the future!" The boy took the bowl and left the orphanage's cafeteria, squatting alone in a corner to eat.

Sighing, little Ivy shook her head, feeling helpless. After finishing the meal and returning to the classroom, she accidentally discovered several five or six-year-old boys throwing stones into the injured boy's bowl. They also called him "ugly monster," "wild child," "bad student," "dirty," and all sorts of mean words.

Just as Ivy was about to scold these boys, the injured boy suddenly put down his bowl, clenched his fists, and beat each of the boys. The children cried and went to report to the teacher.

Not long after, several teachers hurried over and scolded the injured boy for being reckless. Principal Richard also followed and, upon seeing the injured boy, sternly asked, "Thomas, did you hit someone?"

"Yes!" Thomas replied firmly without offering any explanation.

Richard was infuriated. "Who allowed you to hit others? This is an orphanage, and every child here is just like you, with no love from a father or a mother. You may be pitiful, but they are also pitiful. They are even younger than you and are your younger brothers. As their older brother, how can you bear to hit them?"

Thomas remained silent, burying his head low.

"From now on, you are not allowed to hit anyone!" Richard said solemnly. "Come here and apologize to your younger brothers!"

"I did nothing wrong!" Thomas refused to apologize.

"Say it again?" Richard's anger grew, and he raised his hand as if about to hit someone.

"Grandpa Richard, he really did nothing wrong. It was those few boys who bullied him first!" Little Ivy lifted Thomas' bowl.

"Grandpa Richard, look, Thomas only squatted here to eat, and those boys kept throwing stones into his food. They even called him ugly monster, wild child, bad student, and dirty. Those boys were just too much. If it were me, I would have taught them a lesson too!"
