Chapter 123 Had to Bail on Ivy
The situation was serious? Alexander's heart sank.
He had been raised by his grandma since he was young, and she was the person he cared about the most. If she was really in critical condition, he couldn't afford to delay even for a second.
But when he thought about Ivy using the Magic Pearl to treat his grandma recently, Alexander couldn't believe that things had worsened.
Ivy's Magic Pearl was supposed to be able to cure all ailments. After the treatment, his grandma should have been completely healthy. How could her condition have worsened?
Alexander dialed Leo's number, feeling skeptical.
"Leo, did your mother call you?"
Leo had already heard what Mrs. Ashford said on the phone and knew how to respond.
He pretended to cry and said, "Yes, she called. She said our grandma is not doing well, and I'm on my way back."
It was actually true!
Alexander hung up the phone and immediately drove to the Ashford family mansion.
At the Clark Hotel.
Maria, Samantha, the six little girls, Michael, and Hannah had all finished getting ready and were sitting at the table, waiting for Alexander to arrive so they could have breakfast together.
Ivy glanced at the time and smiled, saying, "He'll be here in five minutes!"
"No rush, it's just five minutes. We'll wait for him," Michael said.
"Yes, let's eat together when he arrives," Samantha said kindly.
"We'll wait for Daddy to eat," the six little girls expressed in unison.
Meanwhile, Alexander and Leo arrived at the Ashford family mansion one after the other.
Leo intentionally slowed down, letting Alexander enter first.
"Grandma!" Alexander shouted and rushed inside.
"Hey!" Mrs. Ashford responded happily, then smiled at Hailey and said, "See? I told you Alexander wouldn't stay angry for long. Look, he's here to see me early in the morning."
Annabel had deceived him! Alexander's face immediately darkened, and he stormed towards the door without looking back.
"Alexander! What do you mean?" Mrs. Ashford chased after him and shouted, "Are you happy if I'm really dead? If that's the case, I'll die right now just to show you!"
Alexander had just opened the car door when he heard her words and closed the door in frustration.
"What do you want?" Alexander yelled angrily.
"You dare to get angry with me?" Mrs. Ashford changed her demeanor, intentionally wiping away tears and said, with extreme grievance, "I raised you with great hardship, and this is how you treat me? If I knew you were like this, I would have followed your parents twenty years ago. Why bother to live until now? Who was it for? Sob..."
Upon hearing this, Alexander felt extremely upset and quickly turned around to apologize. "I'm sorry, grandma..."
"I don't want your apologies. I just want you to stay and have breakfast!" Mrs. Ashford said angrily.
Then, she pitifully asked, "Is that okay?"
Alexander took a long deep breath. "Fine."
Afterward, taking advantage of the opportunity to go to the bathroom, he sent a message to Ivy.
[Sorry, Ivy. Something urgent came up at the company, and I can't make it. Let's have lunch instead. Please prepare it for me.]
At the Clark Mansion.
Everyone was starting to get anxious because the food was getting cold. Alexander still hadn't arrived.
Unable to hold back, Maria asked, "Ivy, he still hasn't come? Why don't you call and ask? Fifteen minutes have already passed."
Pouting, Ivy said, "He's driving, it's not convenient to make a call. Maybe you should start eating."
"But how can we do that? Let's wait a little longer," Samantha said helplessly.
More time passed, and Alexander still hadn't arrived. Ivy became really worried and picked up her phone to make a call.
That's when she saw the message from Alexander, and disappointment filled her heart.
