Chapter 406: To be continued

The stern-faced man immediately turned to several young boys and asked, "Did you boys throw stones into your brother's bowl? And did you insult him as well?"

The boys all lowered their heads in shame, their faces red all the way to the roots of their ears.
Richard sighed heavily and said in a serious tone, "Why would you bully your brother? His whole body is covered in wounds, he has already endured so much cruelty outside, coming to our big family in search of some warmth.

We should help him, care for him, and not continue to humiliate and bully him like the bad people outside.
Do you know how unfair it is for him if everyone bullies him?"

"Sorry, Grandpa Dean, we were wrong..." The little boys apologized one by one. Richard pointed at Thomas and said, "Apologize to him as well!"

The little boys apologized to Thomas, saying, "Sorry, Brother Thomas... We won't throw stones into your bowl anymore... We won't curse at you either..."

Richard faced Thomas and asked, "Thomas, the little brothers have apologized. How should you respond?"

Everyone thought that Thomas would say "It's okay" or "I am also at fault, I shouldn't have hit someone."

However, unexpectedly, Thomas said, "If someone doesn't offend me, I won't offend them!"

With that, he left without even looking back!

But since then, Thomas started talking to Ivy on his own accord.

During meal times, he would sit next to Ivy without being asked.

One day, the headmaster of the orphanage took all the teachers and students on an outing. During their break, Ivy and Thomas discovered a field of flowers. Hand in hand, they quietly made their way towards the flowers.

Thomas picked a big bunch of beautiful flowers and gave them to Ivy. Little Ivy, with her clever hands, turned the bouquet into a beautiful flower crown.

She put the flower crown on her head and sweetly asked, "Brother Thomas, does it look good?"

"It looks beautiful! It would look even better with a few more big flowers. Wait here, I'll go pick them!" Thomas ran towards the deeper part of the flower field to pick even prettier flowers.

At that moment, five boys and girls who were thirteen or fourteen years old approached Ivy. They were not children from the orphanage, with each of them having dyed blonde hair. The two girls even had bright red lipstick on.

"Wow, such a pretty flower crown! I want it!" one of the older girls said.

"Hey, little girl, give me that flower crown!" one of the boys demanded.

"There are flowers over there, go pick and make your own." Ivy pointed towards the flower field.

The older girl coquettishly said to the boy next to her, "Brother, I want this one, the one she made is so pretty!"

"If that's the case, then take it!" The boy reached out to snatch the flower crown.

Unwilling to give it up, Ivy angered the group of boys and girls, and they started forcibly taking it from her. They even slapped Ivy a few times.

When Thomas returned with the flowers, he saw Ivy crying in distress and her flower crown was taken away by the group of boys and girls. Without hesitation, he charged forward and began fighting them.

However, he was only a ten-year-old child, how could he be a match for five children who were thirteen or fourteen?

Soon, he was overpowered and even got scratched on the face by the long nails of the two girls.

Seeing this, Ivy quickly went to find Grandpa Dean for help.

By the time Richard and the teachers arrived, the group of five children had already run away, and Thomas was covered in injuries with a battered face.

But in his arms, he firmly held the flower crown that Ivy had woven.

"Ivy, I got your flower crown back..." Thomas said. "Brother Thomas, sniff... sniff..." Ivy couldn't stop crying.

Thomas lent a helping hand to Ivy and immediately disinfected his injured area. With deep concern, he said, "Thomas, you can't be so foolish in the future. They wanted the flower wreath, so just give it to them. It's not worth getting hit for a flower wreath! You need to learn how to protect yourself, you know?"

Thomas responded, "This is Ivy's flower wreath. She worked so hard to weave it!"

In reality, the flower wreath was already in tatters. Thomas carefully tidied it up and then inserted some big flowers he had picked into the wreath.

The flower wreath instantly elevated to another level, appearing very layered.

"Ivy, it's for you!" Thomas handed the flower wreath to Ivy.

Little Ivy tearfully accepted the flower wreath, but instead of wearing it on her own head, she placed it on Thomas' head.

"The flower is so beautiful, it should be worn by a hero! Thomas, you are an amazing hero!"

"Ivy..." Thomas' nose tingled, and tears welled up in his eyes.
