Chapter 27 Going to the Market Together
"Oh, no need to answer, my boss asked me to go grocery shopping. Since you are leaving, as soon as you're gone, I'll go to the market," Ivy explained awkwardly.
"Grocery shopping? Perfect, I need to go grocery shopping too. Let's go to the market together," Alexander's lips curved with a hint of playfulness.
He was convinced that Ivy wasn't telling him the truth. Today, he wanted to see what kind of tricks Ivy was up to.
"You're going to the market?" Ivy was incredibly surprised. Pausing for a moment, she advised, "Why are you going to the market? Moreover, with your special status as the head of the Ashford family group, wouldn't it be beneath you to go grocery shopping? If the paparazzi were to find out, it would become big news..."
"It's fine, it's been a while since I trended!" Alexander smirked, "So, are you coming to the market or not? Let's go!"
"Oh, then I'll go to the restroom." Taking advantage of the excuse to go to the bathroom, Ivy immediately called Maria. "Maria, my boss wants to eat here, and I can't refuse. I won't be able to come to your mother's house. Please take care of the six kids and whatever you do, don't call me!"
In the adjacent restroom, Alexander leisurely poured hand sanitizer, his lips curling slightly.
Ivy, you really are up to something! When did he say he wanted to eat here?
Since Ivy said it on the phone, he would reluctantly have a meal here.
But what did Ivy mean by "six"?
Six giant pythons? Did Ivy keep six giant pythons at the innkeeper's mother's house?
What on earth is this woman up to? Is she planning to start a farming business?
After Ivy finished her call, she happened to see Alexander as she walked out, worrying that he might have heard her phone conversation.
Alexander touched the Bluetooth in his ear and said, "Ethan, tell my mother that I won't be going home for lunch. One of my employees got injured, and I'm comforting her at her place, so I'll have lunch there..."
So Alexander was making a phone call. Ivy breathed a sigh of relief.
I wonder who got injured, as Alexander mentioned.
"Who are the employees?" Ivy shrugged, not caring who they were as long as they didn't eat at her place.
The mall
Ivy pushed the shopping cart around aimlessly, not intending to buy groceries at all, but she had no choice.
"These potatoes look fresh," Alexander casually picked one up and threw it into Ivy's cart.
"The beef is good. Let's make beef stew with potatoes!" Alexander pointed at a piece of pork.
Soon, Ivy's cart was piled up like a small mountain, and she could barely push it anymore.
Seeing this, Emma came over and helped Ivy push the cart.
At the seafood section, Alexander stopped for a long time.
Ivy couldn't help but frown and shout, "How much more are you going to buy? Can we finish eating all of this?"
"If we can't finish, we can put them in the refrigerator," Alexander stepped forward and pulled Ivy to a glass water tank with something dark inside, saying, "Does your snake at home grow this big?"
Inside the tank was a coiled large yellow snake thicker than an arm. When Ivy went to take a look, the snake suddenly stuck its head out, scaring Ivy into screaming.
She never expected that the dark thing in the tank would turn out to be a snake as thick as an arm.
"You're afraid of snakes even though you keep one yourself?" Alexander laughed heartily, looking extremely pleased with himself.
"Who told you I keep a snake? I don't!" Ivy was furious. "Since the groceries are bought, let's stop the home visit here. You go comfort your injured employees, and I'll go back to my hotel. Let's go our separate ways!"
