Chapter 48 Underwater Black Hole

Underwater.

Late at night, the speed of the water vortex changed noticeably.

Ivy had been resting with her eyes closed. Feeling the vortex spinning slower and slower, Ivy suddenly opened her eyes. The vortex was finally going to disappear!

Once the vortex disappeared, there would be no airflow in the water, so she had to take a deep breath before it vanished and then leave the bottom of the river as quickly as possible.

Looking around, everything was pitch black. Ivy had been rotating in this water vortex for several hours now; her brain couldn't distinguish directions anymore.

The only thing she could do was to take a deep breath when the whirlpool stopped spinning and swim upstream. After reaching the surface of the water and breathing fresh air again, she would decide which direction to go next.

During that last rotation of the whirlpool, Ivy took a long deep breath and prepared herself for departure. Just as she was about to leave, it seemed like someone opened a door underwater - a ray of light shone through intermittently from inside.

Ivy became extremely curious: how could there be light down here? She wondered if it might be a flashlight or signal lamp? Was someone coming to rescue her?

If someone were really coming to save her who would it be? Alexander?

She didn't know why but Alexander kept popping up in her mind; perhaps because he'd saved her many times before at Flower Fitness Club. Maybe this time too...

Inwardly swearing that if Alexander did come to rescue her this time around she would love him wholeheartedly forever even if they faced opposition from everyone else in their lives together - even though they weren't meant for each other - just because he came for her!

At Ashford family villa...

Alexander didn't know what happened but every time he lay down on his bed he sneezed non-stop! Who could be thinking of him? It couldn't be Ivy, that ghostly woman! He didn't want to die so soon.

With this thought in mind, Alexander quickly sat up and faced the window. He clasped his hands together and talked to the air: "Ivy, even though you deceived me and kept things from me, it doesn't matter. I don't blame you. You can rest assured that I will raise our six children well - even if they're not biologically mine - because we had a relationship once. So leave the children to me and long sleep well"

As soon as he finished speaking, a strong gust of wind blew through the window; Alexander was frightened out of his wits thinking Ivy had really come for him!

The wind subsided quickly afterward; Alexander hurriedly closed the window then lay back down on his bed feeling uneasy.

Underwater.

The light at the bottom of the black hole gradually changed color with a faint green glow becoming more prominent making it less like a flashlight.

Ivy became extremely disappointed realizing no one was coming to rescue her after all...

What could this light be?

A pearl?

A priceless treasure?

Driven by curiosity she swam towards it.

At the very bottom of this black hole lay an enormous river clamshell big enough for two people to lie on comfortably side-by-side like a natural double bed!

The shell was open slightly revealing its contents: A smooth round pearl about the size of jujube fruit glowed with greenish hues.
