Chapter 152
HANNAH
Whatever Asher had injected into my system was strong. I had tried my best to do something, anything to get myself free. I had tried to summon all the rage I had felt that day I was almost kidnapped, the rage that had helped me kill those men.
But even the powers of the white wolf were no match for the poison flowing through my bloodstream. Somewhere out there, a clock was ticking.
Each tick brought me closer to death. Soon Dawson and his councilmen would be here to finish me off. A tear slipped down my cheeks. I was trying to be strong, but it was just so hard.
I raised my head up as much as I could. I imagined the dirty, sagging cobwebby ceiling to be the sky where the moon goddess sitting on her throne would be looking down at me.
"Please," I begged, my voice barely a whisper in the silent room. "Please, if ever you made me the white wolf for a reason, don't let me die like this. Give me strength..." I thought of my mates. They would be frantic with worry by now. Asher was too smart to keep me captive anywhere close to his pack or mine. Most likely, this building was in the middle of nowhere, in a spot where my mates wouldn't think to look.
"Let my mates hear me. Let them find me. Please..."
After that, I leaned back, staring into space. Several times, Asher had tried to hurt me. Why did this seem like he would succeed? This time, I felt completely alone, and my mates were not coming from me.
I sat there thinking about my life until I dozed off.
I found myself in a field, my hands tied behind my back. I couldn't move or run, and from a distance, I could see a pack of hungry wolves drawing closer to me. As I tried to free myself, it felt like the knots tightened even more.
"Hannah."
I snapped my head up to see a woman standing before me. She was dressed in white, a blinding light emitting from her body. Her white hair framed her perfect face, her beauty so unreal. I felt her aura and it was the purest ever. I gasped, realizing who she was.
"Moon goddess." I breathed.
"You seem to be struggling," She said, her voice coming out smooth like silk. She looked over my shoulders. "And those hungry wolves are advancing quite fast."
"I don't know what to do." I said, tears streaming down my face. "Help me. Save me."
"I can't save you if you believe you can't be saved," She replied. "Why do you lose faith so easily? Why do you give up when you have the world at the tip of your fingers?"
"I've tried." I cried. "I've tried everything possible. I can't save myself alone."
"Then, call out to them." Her eyes danced with softness. "Let them hear you. You share a bond with them, believe in yourself and call out for help. Sometimes, it takes a little pain to get rid of a larger problem."
"But how..." I started to ask, but she was gone. I turned around desperately, searching for her but I was now all alone.
"Help me!!!!" I screamed out.
************
My eyes fluttered open with a gasp. I looked around me sharply and sighed. I was still in chains, still waiting to be ripped apart.
My mind slowly returned to my dream. I had to call out to my mates, I had to communicate with them. With all the strength left in me, I started to speak to my wolf, telling her everything I wanted them to hear, showing her everything they needed to them.
"Please, save me." I whispered, tears streaming down my eyes.
"Oh hello."
I started. Mia had come in silently. How long had she been standing there watching me? She was smiling, watching the trail of tears on my face.
"The white wolf, crying?" she mocked. "Now that's a story I would love to tell my grandchildren someday. I wonder... why are you suddenly blubbering though? I thought you were tougher than that. Is it because you're going to die or..." Her lips turned down at the corners. "Is it because you're missing your mummy?"
I felt my fingers twitch convulsively.
"Why?" I asked, my voice shaking with anger. "Why did you betray me? Why are you risking your life for Asher?"
Mia's voice shot up. "Risking my life?" She laughed. "Take a good look at yourself. You're the one in chains, not me, white wolf. He sent me to check if you're still... secure. He thought you could probably break through chains. He's overestimating you if you ask me, but then... I do what I'm told."
