Chapter 324
LUCIAN
My fingers curled into fists. I shoved it into my pocket to stop myself from rushing over to Theron and smashing a fist through his face like I wanted to.
Theron was crowding her. It was obvious Willa did not want to be there.
I had warned the asshole to stay away from her. But of course, he wouldn't listen. He never listened.
As Theron glanced over his shoulder at me, I reached for Willa's arm to lead her away.
"Does he know?" Theron said loudly.
I stiffened. A vein in my temple pulsed in time to my heartbeat. I ground my teeth together.
I knew I shouldn't give Theron a reaction which was what he so obviously wanted, but his meddling was driving me half crazy.
"Cone on, Willa, let's go," I said, taking hold of her arm.
"Don't ignore me, Willa," Theron said like I hadn't spoken. "Does he know of our arrangement?"
"Theron!" Willa said, a warning note in her voice.
He ignored her. Didn't even spare her a glance. He was staring at me, waiting for my reaction.
"The one where I was pretending to be your boyfriend to get him jealous?" he continued.
He was hoping I would be offended or disgusted by his revelation.
Willa was glaring at him now. In a way, it was good he had done this. At least now Willa had good reason to detest the bastard.
The jerk didn't even know that he was shooting himself in the foot.
I grinned at him, felt a savage burst of pleasure when his eyes narrowed into slits.
Not so sure of yourself now, are you? I thought.
"Yes, Theron," I drawled. "My girlfriend told me all about your little arrangement which in case you didn't get the memo, is over now." My voice hardened. "Now enough! You sound like a two year old desperately holding on a toy. You're behaving like one too."
I turned to Willa.
Theron moved close to her.
"Does she know?" he asked, fixing me with a pointed look.
My smile disappeared. Surely, I thought, the bastard wouldn't dare.
But he would. I saw it in his eyes. He would do anything, everything to split me and Willa up.
Theron, chuckling, turned slowly to face me.
"Stupid question," he said. "Of course she doesn't know. You're too chickenshit to tell her."
I swallowed, wishing I didn't know what Theron was talking about.
But I did. To make it worse, Willa had asked me the same question just yesterday. How I regretted skirting around the question now!
If Theron told Willa about it, it would look like I kept it from her for the wrong reasons. Or worse, that I had claimed her to prove a point.
My fingers tightened around Willa's arm. I pulled her to me and started down the corridor.
Theron moved into my path. His dark eyes glittered. They showed how much he was enjoying this.
"Why Lucian," he said, his eyes growing wide. "Aren't you going to say anything? If I didn't know better, I would think you were running away. The mighty Lucian Drayton doesn't run from anything, does he?"
Willa stamped her foot angrily.
"Theron! Get out of the way!" she said. "You're taking this too far. The fact that we had a deal doesn't give you the right to harass me."
Theron's gaze snapped back to Willa's. He frowned. "You don't know what you're saying. You're defending someone who hasn't told you shit about his life-"
"I know everything," Willa shouted and I felt like the lowest form of scum when I heard the complete trust in her voice. "Lucian has been honest with me. It's you I don't know because you're behaving like an asshole right now!"
"Willa..." I murmured and tugged on her arm again.
I would get her out of here, take her somewhere where we could be alone and explain everything to her myself.
Willa didn't budge. She stood her ground, glaring up at Theron who looked mad and hurt.
To me he said, "Will you tell her or should I?" I pursed my lips and said nothing. Theron nodded. "Very well. Willa, this good-for-nothing piece of shit you think you know fucked my girlfriend. He's the reason Sylvia and I broke up."
Seething, I stared at a spot on the floor. I didn't have to look to know Willa was staring at me, shocked, waiting for an explanation. An outright denial.
Finally she said heatedly, "What are you talking about? Lucian? It's a lie, isn't it?"
Theron snorted. "Oh come off it, Willa. You know it's not. If I were lying, he would be trying to rip me apart right now. Let me tell you all about it. He fucked Sylvia while we were dating."
