Chapter 321
WILLA
A frown creased Lucian's brow.
"I'm sorry," he said, glancing at me. "I just had to do that. Someone had to put that jerk in his place."
"I'm sorry too," I said. "Maybe I shouldn't have taken the call."
"Don't be silly," he said mildly and shook his head. "It's my fault you are in this situation. If I had done the right thing and claimed you from the start, you wouldn't have had to deal with Theron."
I tapped my chin and pretended to think about what he had said.
"You know what? You're right," I said, grinning. "It's actually all your fault."
Lucian laughed and planted a loud kiss on my cheek. I grinned.
I was happy now. More than happy even.
Still there was something niggling at the back of my mind.
"Lucian?" I said.
"Mmm?"
He was pouring himself another cup of coffee. He turned to face me.
"I've always wanted to ask, is there some other reason why you and Theron don't get along? Or is the bad blood between you two just because of me."
Lucian barked out a short laugh.
"It's nothing," he said. "I just find the guy really annoying. That's all. You know how it is when you meet someone and everything they say or do just manages to rub off on you the wrong way? That's how it's always been for me and Theron. But mostly..." He set down the coffee cup and pulled me close He hugged me to him so tightly my breasts were squished against his chest. "... it's just you. Obviously. I would detest any guy, even though it's my best friend, if he dares looks at you twice. You're mine. All mine."
"Sure about that?" I teased.
Lucian growled and crushed my lips to his own.
**********
"You know you could always sleep over at my place," Lucian said.
He had unlocked the door. He stood in front of it, not going in.
He looked at me hopefully, hoping I would change my mind and return to his place.
I wrinkled my nose at him, pushed past him into my room.
"Oh no," I said. "I'll visit you often enough but I can't live there."
He raised a brow. "Says who?"
I punched him in the arm. "Says me, the girlfriend who has a perfectly comfortable room of her own."
Lucian's lips twitched. "Girlfriend... I think I like the sound of that."
"You better get used to it. Besides," I continued, reverting back to the topic. "I needed a shower-"
"There's one in my room-"
"-And a change of clothes."
Lucian had nothing to say to that.
He sat on the bed.
"Good point," he said. "But I don't want to sleep alone tonight. I want to cuddle you in bed. Last night I realized sleeping next to you was the best feeling in the world."
"Lucian Drayton!" I said.
"What? Don't tell me you didn't enjoy it too."
I shook my head. "Since when did you get so cheesy? Those lines were straight out of a romantic movie."
He rolled his eyes. I crawled into his lap, ran my fingers through his hair.
"So," he said slowly. "Does that mean I'm sleeping alone tonight?"
"No. You can crash in my room tonight."
He grinned. "Cool but er- what about your roommates? Won't they mind?"
I waved to their corner. All that was left of Naomi and her minions were three bare mattresses.
"They're gone," I told him. "At first I thought it was just Naomi leaving, but Carmen and Lisa followed her out too. Maybe they thought I was a witch that would eat them alive at night."
"Good riddance, I say!" Lucian said. "At least you won't have to deal with them anymore. Even if you didn't tell me everything, I know they were giving you a hard time. It's settled then. I'm sleeping here tonight."
I opened my arms.
"Yaaaay," I squealed.
I pushed him back on the bed, straddled him and covered his face with kisses. He tried to trap ny lips with his own but I was too quick for him.
So with a huge grin on his face, he bore it all patiently.
There was a soft rap on the door. I sat up. Lucian glanced at me, then at the door.
"Who could that be?" he asked me.
I shrugged. "I don't know. I am not expecting anyone."
"Who's there?" Lucian called out.
No one answered. Lucian gripped my hips and set me aside, murmuring that he would see who was at the door.
He opened it then went out into the corridor. Seconds later, He returned and came to sit by me.
"Who was it?" I said.
"No one," he replied. "There was no one outside."
