Chapter 310
LUCIAN
I was this close to loosing my shit.
If that pale bloodsucker didn't stop touching Willa I would and it didn't matter that dozens were watching.
It turned my stomach to see him all over her. Holding her. Smiling at her. Kissing her cheek and grinning like he had just won the damn lottery.
And what had Willa done in all this?
Nothing. She looked surprised, as shocked as I was. But had she put Theron in his place?
Hell no.
Maybe she was even enjoying the attention.
The thought of it made my blood boil. Willa was mine and mine alone.
"Way to go, Theron!" someone yelled.
"Kiss her good," someone else shouted when Theron gave her another kiss, this time on her chin.
If Willa had not immediately turned her head, the kiss could have fallen on Willa's lips. If it had, well...
I rolled my shoulders to ease some of the tension there and thought that if Theron had kissed Willa on the mouth, I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from ripping his lips off.
The cheering for Theron and Willa went on and on. I turned my head a little to the right to glare at the love bug girl reading the shout-outs.
She wasn't even making a move yet to go on to the next shout-out request.
How badly I wanted to leave! But I would be damned if I let Theron know how this stupid stunt of his had affected me. I had a feeling he had staged all this for my benefit.
And so I sat there and bore it for what felt like forever. Finally the cheering and clapping stopped. Other requests were read.
Eventually students headed off to class.
I sat there until I felt I had my temper more or less under control. Then I went for my mid day lecture which I was fifteen minutes late for already.
Maybe the professor noticed the mood I was in because he didn't say a word to me when I walked in.
After the day's classes, I stepped out with the others into the corridor, thinking of what I could do to de-stress.
I spotted Willa up ahead going in the direction of the library. I had a short brief war with myself but my need to be around Willa won.
I knew I shouldn't follow her but I did, keeping behind a group of students headed that way so she didn't spot me in case she turned.
Once inside the library, Willa stopped, looked around, sighted Sienna and went straight for her.
Moving faster, I went the other way and claimed a seat just behind Sienna's. Half hidden behind a bookshelf, I heard Willa sigh as she dropped into a chair beside Sienna.
There was a thud as Sienna closed the large volume she was reading. She asked Willa if she and Theron were now an official couple.
Hating myself for it and yet powerless to stop myself, I craned my neck forward to listen for Willa's answer.
She murmured something under her breath I didn't catch.
"What do you mean?" I heard Sienna say. "Come on, Willa. Spill! Is he your boyfriend now?"
"It's not that simple," Willa said.
I released I breath I didn't know I had been holding.
Not that simple was another way of saying it was complicated. That meant there was hope that Willa was not into Theron yet.
"Please give me a straight answer, Willa," Sienna urged and I felt a rush of gratitude to her.
With Sienna, I knew Willa would be honest. At least now I would know where I stood with her.
I was holding my breath, waiting for Willa's answer when someone behind me cleared their throat. I started, accidentally sweeping a book someone had left lying around to the floor.
I turned in time to see the librarian pick the book off the floor and dust it. She stood, adjusted her horn-rimmed spectacles.
The book was a hardcover. The fall had pulled a couple of pages free of it's bindings. The librarian didn't look too pleased about it.
The frown she gave me told me plainly it was my fault one of her precious books had been mutilated.
"Lucian," she said, in a voice cold enough to freeze ice. "I have to ask... are you here to read?"
As she spoke her eyes travelled from me to Sienna and Willa. Her gaze lingered on the girls before slowly coming back around to me.
The librarian's message was clear. She knew I had been listening in on their conversation and she did not approve.
It was then I realized how I was sitting. At the edge of my chair with my head thrust forward.
I quickly sat properly though it was useless at this point.
