Chapter 249

WILLA

I was getting ready to ask him to just sign my attention sheet since today's session was clearly going to be about him completely ignoring me- not that I would have added that last part though- when he spoke so quietly I wouldn't have heard him if my ears hadn't been straining for the sound of his voice.

"Why couldn't you get your form signed yourself? Too chicken?"

I swallowed back a retort. He wouldn't get a rise out of me. Not if I could help it.

The silence stretched. He pulled another plant towards him, started trimming that one too. I looked around.

I really doubted today's lesson was about trimming plants but anything would be better than standing here watching a really pissed off Lucian.

"You must be really desperate," Lucian said again in that same low quiet voice. "What's a more intense word for desperate?" He paused, seemed to think about it. "Whatever the word is, you're it, Willa. You kiss me one day, throw yourself at another guy you barely even know the next. Clearly starved for male attention." He shook his head. "Pathetic."

"What I do and who I do it with is none of your business!" I said before I could stop myself.

The clicking sound of the shears stopped. Lucian went very still. Even the very air seemed to grow still.

I bit down on my lip, told myself to stop talking and decided I didn't want to. Whatever this exchange of words led to, he was the first to have started it.

"You rejected me!" I hurled at his broad back. "And now I'm free to go out with whoever I want. Deal with it!"

I was turning away to study the plants when I heard a muffled oath. The next moment Lucian was kicking his stool out of his way and marching towards me.

My mouth fell open. I started to back away from his reaching hands a second too late.

He knocked my backpack to the floor, grabbed both my hands in one of his and dragged me to the wall. I felt like a bug stuck pinned to a card as he held me there easily with my hands over my head.

I struggled to free myself. It was like trying to push back a brick wall. Finally I stood there, glaring impotently at him.

I held on to the anger. It was what kept me from thinking about other things like how good his hands felt on mine. Or how there seemed to be golden flecks in his brown eyes.

"No one speaks to me like that!" Lucian growled. His fingers tightened painfully on my wrists. "No one! Especially not a little thing like you."

He cocked his head to one side, regarding me like a butcher inspecting a good chunk of meat.

"Let go of me," I said breathlessly.

"In fact, if I decided to claim you right here and right now, there isn't a single thing you or anyone could do about it." He bared his teeth and leaned close. "Want to dare me?"

"In case you haven't noticed I have a boyfriend now, Lucian. Be very careful about the things you say to me," I spat out.

Lucian's lips peeled back from his teeth. For a moment looked so angry I opened my mouth to scream for help.

And then I couldn't have done it even if my life had deepened on it. My head swam as I felt Lucian's lips angrily claim mine. I think I stopped breathing for a moment or two as the taste and smell of him filled all my senses.

His tongue, soft and wet, explored my open mouth. When he made a groaning, sighing sound in his throat, I felt warm heat flood that spot between my legs. At some point he let go of my hands.

"You're mine," he gasped, biting my lower lip and soothing the sting with his tongue. "Not Theron's." He kissed the curve of my neck. His kisses on the corners of my lips were light, teasing. My head lolled back. "Not anyone else's." He licked the shell of my ear. "Just mine. Do you understand, Willa? You belong to only me."

He leaned in to kiss me again. I knew if I let him, I was lost.

Summoning all my willpower, I shoved him in the chest. He staggered back more in surprise than by my actual effort.

"I'm not your toy!" I snapped. "You can't just kiss me one moment and then treat me like crap. Stick with your girlfriend and leave me the hell alone!"

Lucian started to say something. The door opened then. Naomi walked slowly in.

Her eyes darted from Lucian to me and back again. There was suspicion in them.
