Chapter 257

WILLA

She looked around and her audience had grown very quiet now. They had crowded around in a circle and were watching, waiting to see what would happen next.

One thing was sure though. None of them were going to lift a finger to help me if Naomi took the fight too far.

Naomi bared her teeth in a grin. She got off me. That smile remained on her face and I knew something really bad was coming.

She glanced down at her legs. I was in so much pain I couldn't move, only stare up at her as she dangled her boot clad foot inches above my face.

"I wonder what your face will look like squished in like a rotten pumpkin," she said softly. "There'll be no cheerleading for you ever, right? Not with a face like that."

The girls, like bloodthirsty hounds, leaned closer.

I tried to turn my head as Naomi started to bring her foot down.

"Ms Hunter!" boomed a stern voice. "What on earth do you think you're doing?"

The girls scattered, leaving me a clear view of a  professor marching up to us. She glared at Naomi, then at me.

"I thought this was supposed to be a cheerleading audition, not a wrestling contest!" the professor shouted. She turned to Naomi. Her eyes took in her half undressed state. "You! Make yourself decent and report to the dean's office now!" She glared at me. I had managed to sit up a little. "The same goes for you too miss!"

As we left for the dean's office, I noticed all the other girls were nowhere to be found. The dean did a double take when the professor ushered us in.

She told the dean what had happened in two sentences.

"Shocking and gutter behaviour!" Dean Freeman exclaimed when she had finished. "Totally unbefitting of students of this university. What if one of the royals, who frequently pay us visits, were around and had seen this?"

I pointed to Naomi. "She hit me first after saying I couldn't-"

"That's quite enough from you, Ms Wallace," Dean Freeman snapped. "You both will be severely punished. Mark my words. Some months of intense community service should help cure whatever temporary insanity possessed you girls."

He pressed a buzzer, told his secretary to tell Lucian to see come to his office immediately.

"These two were caught fighting," the dean told Lucian when he entered the office. "I would like you to suggest a fitting community service punishment for them."

"I didn't do anything wrong, sir," Naomi whined. "She just came for the tryouts and started insulting me and Lucian for no reason."

"And so you decided to take laws into your own hands," the dean said.

Naomi had no answer to that one. Lucian was glaring at me.

He clearly blamed me for this. He had not even been there to know who had started it.

"I suggest they come along on the botany group project coming up in five days," Lucian told the dean. "There will be a lot to do there. I think that will be adequate punishment."

"Perfect," the dean said. "Make sure they get to do all the scut work."

Lucian nodded.

The principal, after beaming at Lucian and glaring at me and Naomi, gave us a stern lecture on how we were lucky not to have been punished more severely and dismissed us. I was the first out the door.

Lucian caught up with me in the corridor. He grabbed my arm, swung me around. His eyes were dark and very angry.

"You," he said. "You've crossed the line no Omega should ever cross."

"I'm not an Omega!" I shot back. "I've told you many times, I'm a-"

"No one gives a shit about what you are," Naomi said. "But know this, you're going to regret what you did and I'm not talking about the fucking community service."

"She won't regret a thing!"

I didn't know how Theron always managed to turn up at the very moments he was needed, but I was grateful for it.

Theron came up, put his arms around my waist and said, "She's with me now. If that was a threat Naomi, you'd better take it back. No one touches Willa with me around. Got it?"

Lucian turned his glare over to Theron and Theron glared right back. Theron pulled me closer. Lucian's eyes narrowed.

"You're done here?" Theron asked me still with his eyes on Lucian. I nodded. "Good. Let's get the hell out of here."

We were walking away when Theron half turned and spoke to Lucian over his shoulder. "From now on, Lucian, keep your dog on a leash." His gaze cut to Naomi who enjoy flushed tomato red. "I won't tell you this again."
