Chapter 342

WILLA
I looked at the clothes laid out on the chairs and bed and groaned. How could one have so many clothes and yet nothing to wear?
I opened the wardrobe again, glanced through the clothes there.
Today was the student, family day and I had to have the perfect outfit.
Even if Lucian had kept assuring me that his father had no issues with our relationship, as the day I was to meet his family drew closer, my anxiety grew worse.
I couldn't help thinking; What if they still didn't like me? Not because I was not Lycan, but because of something I said, did, or even wore!
I knew it was silly to think that way, but I just couldn't help it. Maybe it was because in my experience, most Lycans were snubs.
I shook my head.
"Don't think that way, Willa," I said to myself. "Remember. Positive energy only."
Finally, after what seemed like forever, I pinned the choice down to two outfits. I was agonizing over which one if them to actually wear when Sienna walked in.
She stopped short, staring at the scene before her.
"Whoa!" she exclaimed. "What is going on here? Did you go shopping or are you packing?"
"Thank goodness!" I sighed in relief.
I ran to Sienna, seized her hand and pulled her into the room.
I led her to the bed on which I had laid my final selections.
"You came right on time," I said. "I've been trying to decide what to wear all morning."
Sienna's creased brow smoothed out. She grinned and waggled her brows. "Oh. I get it now. You want to look perfect for the boyfriend's family."
"Yes. I have to make a good first impression especially with all the gossip about me still flying around." I scooped up the two outfits, held them up for her inspection. "So which one do you think is more appropriate? This? Or that?"
Sienna tapped her chin thoughtfully.
Finally she said, "I think you should make the decision this time. But first a hint. Wear something that makes you feel bold and confident." She struck a pose and grinned. "Something that will show them you are an Alpha's daughter and not a-" She hooked her fingers into quotation marks. "-side piece."
Laughing and feeling a little relieved by Sienna's bluntness, I chose a pretty chiffon dress, cinched at the waist.
It showed off my figure. It wasn't too dressy and yet it wasn't casual either.
"Perfect," Sienna said.

The dean had said the families would be arriving at noon and then the main event would commence an hour later. I got to the main hall where the event was to be held at a few minutes past noon.
Already the place was getting filled up. Students stood around talking happily with their families.
I looked around for mine. I heard my name and caught a movement out of the corner of my eye. Someone was waving.
Then I saw them. My three brothers, looking bigger and sturdier than ever. They were standing in a loose semi circle around Hannah. They were all wearing big grins and waving excitedly.
Excited, I jogged over to them, resisting the urge to run because of the number of people that kept getting in my way.
"Hannah!" I cried and launched myself into her arms.
The force of my embrace knocked her into Cade who grabbed her shoulders to steady her.
"Oh Willa," Hannah gasped, sounding near tears. "I missed you so much."
"Not as much as I missed you," I said, holding on to her.
Chase started to pry my hand off Hannah's waist.
"Hey, where's our hug?" he grumbled. "Hannah's not your only family, you know?"
I wrinkled my nose at him.
"Learn to wait your turn," I said, enveloping him in a bear hug.
He hugged me back, lifted me a few inches off the floor and handed me over to Jace. Jace's hug was so tight I could barely breathe.
When he released me, I caught a mischievous glint in his eyes and knew he had done it on purpose. I made a face at him and he chuckled.
"Come here," Cade said quietly. He placed his hands on my shoulders, looked me over.
What he saw seemed to meet with his approval because he nodded. He planted a kiss on my forehead.
"Looks like you've been causing quite the stir around here, little sister," he said and ruffled my hair.
"Don't," I said, skipping out of his reach. "It took me almost an hour to get a blowout."
Cade rolled his eyes.
"Some things never change," he said.
"You can say that again," Jace said and made a playful snatch at my hair.
"Knock it off," I said.
