One last look around making sure I have everything I will need. I catch sight of the dream catcher delta female Breena gave me to help with nightmares of Kim. To this day I still have nightmares about finding her in the woods. The dream catcher long ago losing its magic. A shiver works its way slowly down my spine. The kind of shiver that leaves you gasping for a breath after. It worked for a time. But why risk it, shoving it in my bag.
Leaving my room I lock the door I don’t trust my sisters one bit. Dropping it off by the door I head to the kitchen. Father has toast, bacon and eggs on the counter. The evil brats sitting at the table eating. “daddy please make Philip let me use his truck while hes gone. You know we are heading to college and well our stuff wont fit in our car. Please daddy.” growling at Braylynn. “trade in your stupid pocket car and get a truck I’m taking mine with me. Besides Ty is leaving his truck for Skylar and gunner to use so don’t even try.” I laugh was waiting to tell her last minute that Ty was leaving his truck and sky had the keys meaning they wont be getting their hands on them. Ty should have started the academy last year but he wanted to wait for me. He spent the last year training and working. He also put his computer skills to work and got backgrounds on all the alphas in our group. Not many heading to the academy this year. The academy is attached to the winters pack. The dorms and academy at the edge of the territory. My motto being “be prepared.” lame but it works.
In the past alphas have turned on one another for very little reason. Our pack no longer allows visiting packs due to several attacks by the rogue king. Father is paranoid about the rogue king but who can blame the guy he lost a lot due to him. But there has not been one word from him since I was five. “now you girls know I will help you move what ever you need to your dorms so there's no need to bother the boys for their trucks.” crossing their arms pouting when a very disheveled will stumbles down the hall to the kitchen. “what has them yelling so early I am trying to sleep?” sniffing the air I can smell his and hunters scent on him. Looking up at him as he scratches the back of his head. Delta mate.” wiggling my eyebrows. Will flips me off. “tell hunter I couldn’t wait for him to wake up and text me later.” nodding he heads to get coffee.
Father walks me out handing me a new card for emergencies. i dought I will need it I have my savings from working in the pack. Just because we are the alpha family does not mean we don’t work. We work harder then the rest of the wolves in the pack. At 16 I joined our warriors. Staring in the cells cleaning them and bringing the prisoner's meals. Ending working on the patrol unit. I love running the border. It gives me time to think about things. Just me and the trees. The trees didn’t expect anything from me so it was the only place I wasn’t future alpha Philip. Nodding I pocket the card. “don’t be to hard on your sisters their behavior is all my fault. And you were right it is time I want them fall. I should have put my foot down sooner.” confusion and concern cross my mind. “are you okay?” laughing he nods “yes. Edrya let me have a good talking to last night about how the girls have been. If there's one thing I can be 100 percent about its Edrya.” I nod in understanding. I had started reading physiology books to prepare for my lessons over the summer. The sections about grief hit very close to home. Father never got to really grieve my mother. The day she died he became a single father of three newborns. My sisters being eight months younger than me.
Stepping outside I see Ty talking to sky with a serious look. Father pats my shoulder “enjoy your time at the academy be young and free. I was taking over the pack at your age. I don’t regret it and I do at the same time. don’t let this time away from responsibly be wasted. When you come home you will no longer be Philip but alpha. So be Philip while you still can.” looking into the green eyes of my father and see nothing but love and seriousness in them. “don’t let ray be herself to hunter. Will and hunter is perfect if you ask me.” he smirks and nods. “agreed they will balance each other out.” I chuckle as we reach my truck. Tossing my back in the back seat leaving the door open for Ty. “well old man this is it for a while. Don’t do anything stupid. Crew few is ten o’clock. don’t eat after midnight. Never get wet.and we all know what you did at band camp.” smiling brightly at him “you know one of these days that mouth of yours..” “ will win wars I know I know.” cutting him off. Rolling his eyes at me then giving me a quick hug. And just like that hes no longer my dad but alpha William of the black rose pack. A trait I will have to learn how to do. Watching him walk away for a few seconds before I turn and get in my truck.
