Chapter 23
Every one arrives with long faces. My men all linked me “is she your mate alpha” I just nod. Looking up I see the pain in all of their faces. This is their Luna. They already lost one Luna the thought of losing another is breaking them. “our Luna will make it. She has already fought to survive this far.” Ethan scolds us all through the link. Squaring our shoulders determination to avenge her surging through us.
“what did you find?” I ask “we found 75 bodies in the pit all in different stages of decomposition. A mix of male and female. The youngest looked to be days old. The experts will analyze them as soon as we have them all out of the pit. I have assigned a team to watch the pit just in case they come back.” Ethan tells me. “I sent a team of forensic techs to gather what they can,” Derick said. “alphas we found a small shack about ten miles past where we found the girl last night. We couldn’t pick up a scent trail anywhere in or around the shack.” one of the alpha winter's men said. “the inside is horrible. Garbage and molding food everywhere. We did find stairs leading to a basement. There are several rooms down there. Most had beds with chains on them and no doors. One had a door with heavy locks on the outside. They were keeping something in there.” one of Derick's warriors said. “we found blood on the floor. I called for a tech team to come and clean out everything so we can go through it here. We hope to have some answers tomorrow.” another warrior said. Nodding my head along with them. So far we haven't learned anything.
Screams come from my little mate's room. Jumping up I run to her room. She pressed herself back against the bed trying to get away from the nurses and doctor. “sweetheart they won't hurt you I promise they just want to help you .” I say holding my hands up showing her that I’m no threat as I walk close to her. When I am in range she leaps at me. I know this is the mate bond working and I’m grateful for that. As long as I’m calm she should stay calm. “it's okay sweetie I’m right here I’m not going anywhere.” running my hand down her back. She starts to relax into me. “I’m sorry” shaking my head “you have nothing to be sorry for little one. Do you think you are up to answering a few questions?’ she nods
“what's your name?”
“Allison Clark”
“okay Allie can I call you Allie?” she smiles and nods.
“Alright, Allie how did you get in that pit?” I can see the fear in her eyes as she looks up at me. Smiling at her I hope is an encouraging smile.
“I was trying to save one of the girls. I thought she got away. She said if she could find her brother he would help us all.” she starts crying he whole body shaking. Soothing her letting her cry. Once she calmed down I asked
“who was the girl?”
“well, I don’t know which one she was. I just know what her master called her.” saying nothing I stare at her shock coursing through me. Kept quiet letting her tell me at her speed. when she didn’t say anything I asked her
“what were their names and what was she called?”
“a long time ago when I first met them I think they said their names were Tara, Kara, or something like that.”
“Sara and Clara maybe?” nodding her head so fast
“that's it that's what they called each other. But her master called her amber. Always telling her his real amber was prettier” something poking me in the back of my head. Amber stole something from him he took from me. No no, that can't be right. Cant because then that would mean no no no that's just stupid thinking. “alpha can I have a word with you?” doctor knight said. Looking down at my little wolf “will you be okay if I step in the hall with the doctor for a minute?” she nods. “are you hungry alpha Derick brought some beef broth for you to sip on?” at the mention of food her stomach growls out. Her face goes red and I chuckle. “guess that's a yes.” walking to the door opening it to ask for the broth. Derick is already at the door with it. “thanks” he nods and backs away. He had brought it in a thermos mug with a straw. A smart man or smart staff. Walking back to her I hand it to her and pull the hospital table over close so she can set it down. Placing a kiss on her temple. “ill be right back” she just nods.
Following the doctor out of the room. “alpha she's been through a lot. and I mean a lot. She won't recover alone. She needs to be close. But if I am to be honest marking her would make it faster for her to heal. Her wolf would bond with yours. You being an alpha your strong and so is your wolf she-wolf could pull on that to help heal her.” I nod thinking about it. “is it safe to mark her like she is and what about finishing the bond is that safe?” he takes a deep breath “I have not seen anyone in this bad of shape so I don’t know sir. I figured I would give you the information and you could talk it over with her. I think it would be better coming from you.” looking back at the room “alpha I don’t know about the mating part of the bond though she may be hesitant to do that. From what I have seen, you are gonna need a lot of trust from her. it will take a lot to earn it just be patient.” my head spinning back to him so fast “what?” “it's her story she should tell you?” with that he walks away to see other patients. Taking a deep breath I knock on the door before going back in.
