Chapter 102
Flying down seven flights of stairs to the clinic floor. Why so far down? Safety. Panting as I fall through the clinic doors “alpha” Jenny the receptionist shouts jumping up from her chair “fallen” I start “where” Kai finishes she looks between us confused when the elevator dings and the door opens.
Max is holding up a red-faced fallen. Jenny jumps into action rushing for a wheelchair as I rush to help max. “You two must have flown down.” “No lavender so no. Just sweat so running” fallen answered Max’s question wrinkling her nose. Misting had not even crossed my mind. Ugh, I could have not smelled like a dirty sock had I just misted. But then Kai would still be an adorable sweaty mess. And now we know for sure who is faster. Smirking at his back. “head starts equals cheating so that didn’t count I’m still faster.” He links me. Jerk.
Jenny only allowed max back so we started pacing the waiting room. Had and Enzo arrived in a shroud of shadows. Like Ambrose, Enzo can carry someone with him through the shadows. Jasmine's mate mark looks like smoke tentacles I’m sure it’s meant to mimic a shadow. Her middle finger on her left hand also has an anchor shadow embedded around her finger. The swirls and curls look delicate on her finger. Enzo has a wolf head etched on his neck. It’s made up of small swirls almost like tribal style mixed with the swirls of some flower vines. Each line starts with dark feathers into the soft copper color of Jasmine’s wolf in the center. So it looks like every line of the wolf’s face shines. Next to them is Kaleb. He's been feeling better these last few days but I can’t even imagine how he is feeling. None of us want Kaleb to move down to the delta suite so we do our best to keep the lovey-dovey stuff in our room with candles going.
It's not that Kaleb asked us to do that it’s a respect thing for me. If I was in his shoes I would home my family thought about my feelings so I want to respect how hurt my cousin is. I will tell you when he finds his second chance they better accept my delta or well let’s just say I might have a short temper.
A deep floor-shaking scream growl roar fills the air. Most of the wolves around ducked at the sound. But my heart dropped. That was a pained scream. Dropping in a chair my stomach turning. maybe I don’t want pups cause that sounds painful. Staring at the door to the rooms I just listen to the cries and yelling coming from back behind them.
Kai was pacing the room for the twenty millionth time in the two hours we have been waiting. When Kai screams pulling his hand to his chest. Hunching over wrapping his other hand around his wrist squeezing and fist his other one. A nurse came over to find the issue. His body relaxes for a second before he hunches over again. Twenty minutes of this trying to figure out the cause. Then it stopped. Having laid on the floor at one point Kai rolls over on his back arms out like a starfish. I look at his now bright red palm. “um Kai wasn’t that a black snowflake before?” I say pointing to his hand which now has a silver snowflake on it. Looking over he brings his left hand to his face. “what happened?” he asked as the door flies open to reveal a very exciting max.
“Two boys!” he yells shocking us all “what?” “how?” we all practically yell. “twins she had twins. Two boys can you believe it, twins.” “not possible. Bears don’t have twins it’s too dangerous for the sow and cubs. It’s why they only have one breeding season.” Kai rushes out. “I don’t know what to tell you, man, I was in there with two boys one red-haired with green eyes. one with white hair, and Fallen's pale eyes.
“Can we see them? What are their names?” “come on come meet them we have not picked names yet was waiting to meet my pup first.” Following him to the room we walk in to see a glowing fallen. The smile that covers her face is breathtaking. If you were to bottle the moonlight and bathed in it that would be the glow coming off fallen. Laying on the bed in front of her is two tiny pups. Fire and ice. They will have their hands full. “they look like your mom.” I whisper as the little pale one reaches his left hand up opening it to me. There on his palm is the twin mark that is on Kai's palm. “this one needs a strong name he’s destined to be the alpha of the snowpack.” I say taking his tiny hand in mine and rubbing the mark with my thumb. “what?” fallen yells looking at her son.
“Are you sure?” max asks watching fallen picking up their son. Opening his tiny hand she sees the mark nodding her head as a small tear falls from her eye. “and he’s bear and this little firecracker is all wolf. Looks like you split the pack.” “What?” Fallen's eyes shoot to me. “how do you know?” now everyone staring at me oddly. “their scents.” I say looking around confused. “they smell like snow and fresh grass right now. Their scents won’t be strong enough until they reach puberty or have you forgotten pup basics?” max asks. Shaking my head I look at the pups “no I know they smell like you and fallen but I can smell bear and wolf on them like I smell it on you.” Fallen is now ugly crying holding the little one to her as she pulls the other one closer to her so she can pick him up too. “master Ambrose did this. He blessed us in so many ways I can never repay him. If what Enoy says is true I’m not the last of my kind. We have a bear to raise to run our home pack. A guardian of the north. And the next beta of the most honorable pack I’ve met outside ours. These boys are the future bonds between our packs. So fitting to have such strong future leaders. And I’m glad all the pups will be so close in age. It will help with training them to take over one day” we all laugh when she’s done. “what” “you’re the only one with pups silly girl.” Jas giggles. “for now gifted.” “huh?” Kaleb asks. “lady Enoy and my gifted are with impling. Can you not see the change?” Enzo asks tilting his head. “NO” both Jas and I yell.
