Chapter 55
Tyler pov
Shutting the truck door just as Phil runs past the back end shifting to his huge black as-death wolf. His eyes shone bright silver a spark of something I didn’t catch flashed in his eyes. Shrugging I head inside to pay for whatever it is he did. He has a temper and this thing with the winters has made his fuse shorter. Walking in I see James with a small girl almost clinging to him. Must be the new mate. Behind him is Artemis winters. I know I am supposed to respect her as my future maybe Luna but after what she did to Phil I just can't see her as anything other than a spoiled princess. I know it's harsh given everything she's been through but her family did put both of us through hell for four years and during the last one Phil had to deal with a mate pull. The look on her face tells me she having a hard time with things. Learning the way you were raised was all wrong must be hard. This will be a long three-hour drive.
“James do you know what the bill will be for the damages the A L P H A making a point to punch each letter as I said it. Watching her face flinch at my word doesn't bring me the joy I had hoped. Sighing to myself I look back to James. “he just broke a door handle so I don’t know fifteen dollars.” he shrugs. To say I am shocked that he didn’t do more. I start to laugh so hard my sides started to ache. Looking around I see the confusion on everyone's faces. Gathering myself I look at Artemis “go get your things princess and don’t try running I have one of the best noses in the country second only to Phil. You won't make it far.” she bulks and hurry's to the stairs. The small she-wolf now inching behind James stares wide-eyed at me. “shall we settle the bill and add whatever of her room to the bill.” she nods “yes beta Tyler” James says for her. Dropping my shoulders a little I look to his mate “I am sorry to frighten you ……” looking to James for some help as I just now realized I never asked her name. “Klara. Beta” James supplies. “Klara I do apologize that was our first meeting. If you and your colony do join us you’ll find us to be a friendly crowd.” I smile at her I can see the relief settle over her at my words. Like Phil, we seem to have a calming effect when we want.
Heading to the desk with them to pay the bill and leave a huge tip for their help. “so James how's it feel?” he looks at me with the biggest grin I have ever seen on his face. I have known him since he was 16 and 17 and the only thing other than being a top warrior was to find his mate. When we started training with the warriors again I had asked him if he had found his mate. The sadness I saw had broken my heart. But today one little she-wolf has washed away all traces of sadness. The more I see wolves finding their mates I find that I want that. I stopped finding comfort with the opposite sex a while ago, even if I don’t want to go to bed alone either. Handing her Phil's bank card to run I smell Artemis reenter the lobby. “good glad you came to your senses. I will be stopping at the gas station next door make sure you get yourself something to drink or eat as I won't be stopping again until back at the pack house.” I see in the corner of my eye James trying hard not to laugh. “stop it right now bee or telling Klara.” breaking the link and making a buzzing sound. He starts coughing and I chuckle. Klara jumped rushing towards him. Causing me to chuckle more when he sends a glare my way. “you okay James?” raising my brow at him when he nods.
After paying the bill I walk out without saying to her. I know she followed me to the truck wanting to just go to the driver's side making her open her damn door my mother's voice enters my head. “I did not raise you to be a douche canoe knock it the hell off.” dropping my shoulders I open the passenger door holding my hand out for her bag. She flinched creating a crack in my hate against her. She hands me her bag and slides into the seat. Shutting the door I walk around the front so she can see that I am not going through her bag. Setting her bag in the back and slides into the driver's seat. Driving next door to the gas station I get out to start the pump. Sliding the card in the machine hitting fill and then starting the gas I head in. Reaching the door I see she's still in the truck. Sighing I walk back and knock on the window she jumps snapping her head to me I nod for her to come in with me. Slowly she opens the door and slides out. “I’m not going to hurt you. I wouldn't do that to Phil.” she nods and heads inside. Stopping she turned to go back to the truck “what are you doing?” “I need my bag it has my money in it” shaking my head I lightly turn her around “you met Phil?” she nods “do you think he would let me let you spend your money?” she glances over at me looking me up and down then shakes her head “no he probably get mad he seems pretty possessive.” chuckling I shake my head. “it's not that it's more of your his mate he feels he has to provide for you. Then add he is the alpha and you increase that even more. You are his mate the Luna and a pack member. You are meant to be the heart of the pack and he is the ribs.”
