chapter 41

Philip pov

Making it to the winter's border we are met by the current guard. A few young warriors I didn’t know so they didn’t know me either. They know my scent as they have been told to keep a watch out for me. How do I know this? One of my warriors still here found a way to send me word. The spells on them have been breaking since I took over as alpha. This was the reason I had asked Ambrose to create a scent blocker. We now smell like my father's warriors coming in his stead. The reason my father is sending warriors to bear witness is simple. We have been fighting attacks from the rogue king and he couldn’t leave the pack without him.

Pulling up hunter hands the passes sent to us for this event to the guard. He reads it over talking a little with hunter. Taking the time to link my warriors here in the winter's pack to meet up in the parking lot. When we leave here today I am taking every wolf that is and should be part of my pack. All twenty reply “yes alpha.” now that I am close to them I can feel their bonds snap back into place. A scene of completeness finally blankets me. All my pack bonds are back in place. Only one bond left to claim.

Parking in the back of the lot closer to the tree line, helping our wolfs hide their movements. Each of the SUVs has a third row, but we had them laid down so that we can load more bags and wolves in the three SUVs. Once off the winter's land, Ambrose will be able to send the bags home along with himself giving us more room. It will still be a tight squeeze for three hours but we can do it. I had thought about having a few SUVs or having them run back, but more than three rigs could cause suspicion and we don’t know how far out they are watching. If they get out and run they leave a scent trail they don’t in the SUV. To the winters my twenty warriors just disappeared without a trace.

The scent-blocking spells and potions are one of Ambrose's new obsessions. He wants to figure out how they are doing it. They no longer can use magic on my lands but somehow are still using magic. None of us can figure it out. The last week the rogue king has been playing with me. Sending my photos of my sisters in horrible positions and poses. Asked where my father has gotten to. The last email I received had me throwing my computer across the room.

Alpha Samuels,

If you make it home with your Luna from the winter I will give you a two-week break as a gift. If you make a home without her there will be no break until I have what I want.

Good luck

Rogue king

A touch on my shoulder has me coming back to what we are doing. Shaking my head I give Ty a nod. Walking up to the doors the guards let us in “the ceremony started your pack in the back keep quiet.” a guard looking down his nose at us said. His lack of respect and tone has my wolf on edge. Feeling Ty's elbow knock against mine snapping my eyes to him she shakes his head. That’s the thing about best friends and second, in commands, they know you almost better than you know yourself. Squaring my shoulders I nod back at him and the guard as we make our way through the door. Following the hall to the banquet room. The scent of iron was heavy in the air having me go into a hyper-aware state. I can feel the tension fill my pack as we make it to the door. Taking one last breath we slowly and silently open the door. Stopping dead in my tracks. I had read several books about the winter's pack and their odd mating and marking ceremony. Nowhere in it did I read that the future alpha of alphas and his mate tear the skin off each other as they mate. The stage is covered in their blood and piles of skin. The mating in wolf form was rougher than it should have been. But when the future Luna of Luna mated the future alpha in his wolf form while she was in her human skin. That had me wanting to run. But the look in my mate's eyes has me wanting to tear this pack down. Fear is all I see as she watches her brother. The looks of hate coming from her brother and his mate when they look at Artemis has me wanting to roar out.

Looking around I notice not one wolf in the room is moving or making a noise. Ambrose whispers in my ear “ the whole room is spelled only a few on stage are not spelled. I can feel the magic in the air.” I nod as he talks. “I am gonna slip away I will meet you at the trucks when you are done.” he slips a paper in my hand. “rip it when you're ready to leave.” I nod and slip the paper into my pocket as he slips out. Apollo shifts back still inside his little mate and his father comes forward to cut their palms not letting him disengage from his mate. They sip from a goblet before he pulls it from her. They grab robs slipping them on as their skin stitches back together.

Alpha winters called for the betas to begin. Apollo his mate and Jacob all got evil smirks as they look at my mate. Jacob grabs her arm throwing her down on the stage. Grabbing the back of the ugly dress she's wearing. When he starts to pull on it to rip it off her I can't contain the roar in my throat. Stopping them all. They look up but it's Artemis tear-filled eyes that I am locked in on as I make my way to the stage.

Hope is swimming in her eyes.
