Chapter 129
Kai pov
I had heard little of what had been said in that clinic room. All I could see was my son. He’s perfect with his black hair his tone a perfect combination of Enoy dark tan and my pale white. His tiny button nose is in the center of his percentile round face. His tiny pink lips puckered in his sleep. But when he opened his eyes I was struck by how memorizing his eyes are. One silver almost like a polished shining metal with the darkest black pupil lined in white that bleeds into the silver like ice. The outer ring is lined with black feathering into the iris. The other eye was bright shining gold with the same white and black rings.
The only easy part of becoming a father was well first making him and then for us, we didn’t have to think of a name he would be born with it. We had talked a lot about his middle name. Up north we don’t normally have middle names but down here they do so I wanted to honor that. But when she suggested Jared after my father for his middle name I was shocked. I felt more than honored.
I had started reading about the gods and goddesses in preparation for what names I would need to learn how to pronounce. So when he was born with the name Hades I knew he was destined for greatness. Hades is a king of great honor. He is the richest god now we don’t need funds and I do hope that riches could mean many different forms. From what I have learned about my love's bloodline they share a special ability with the god or goddess they are soul bound to. That being said my son could be very powerful.
When Freya brought the large black puppy-ish beast I knew it would be fine but it still worried me for a second. That was until I saw it the bond between Hades and the beast was formed when his gold and silver eyes met the beast's ruby-red eyes. It happened in a flash and I’m not sure anyone else saw it.
Meeting master Ambrose's father and Enzo’s mother was a bit of a shock. I know what Enzo looks like without his shadow mask he wears around those he doesn’t know well. What I had not known was his mother would have the same markings only more and that they draw your eyes to her well let’s say she looks young, not old enough to be my mother. She screams lust and desire. Coughing I tear my eyes from, from what did Enoy call her?
Glancing up as master Ambrose's father a big red and black goat-eyed ram-horned demon. He is the definition of a terrifying demon lord. But here in the room, he’s giving proud grandfather. You might think it odd but in a way, he is my son’s grandfather.
Finally getting back to our suite I am ready to climb in bed with my mate my son and their familiars. But did that happen no the alarms flood the rooms as the doors lock? So not a drill this is a slick down. Torn between defending the pack and staying with my mate. When she told me to go I kissed them both and flew through the door and up the stairs. Knowing the elevator would be locked and only those with the security safeguards. The doors to the stairs won’t open. And if one door is open none of the others will open. This stops from propping doors open by following through the door. Theirs even a measure to stop someone from killing a wolf to use their code. The code is only active if you're alive. Forcing someone to open one door and then killing them locks that code for the last 24 hours and forward. The only person who can access a wolf’s security code log is the alpha.
When they built this pack they really had the safety of the pack in mind. If more packs ran like this pack the world would be so much simpler.
Making it to the ground floor at the same time max appears with Enzo. “kai you go west Kal already went east Enzo go south I’ll go north try and bring one back if you can. I want answers.” Nodding I rip my shirt off tossing it on the entrance table along with max. Enzo disappears in a fog of shadows as we head out the door. Running to the border.
Now, why are we going to separate borders? That’s because we are being attacked on all sides. When I get to the border I find our wolves laying in a line on the border. Sniffing the air I only smell the pack wolves. Slowly stepping forward when I smell smoke. A fiery smoke burned my nose. Wiping my paw over my nose trying to get it to stop. My feet start wobbling and I’m trying to stay upright. I try linking max but I can’t remember how. The forest starts twisting and turning. My head starts spinning and I fall over. Panting trying to keep my eyes open but failing.
I hear the crunch of dead leaves being stepped on. I can smell burning peppers and wet dirt. I can feel the cold hard ground under me. The sharp rock at my hip digs in painfully but I can move to stop the pain. I hear hushed whispers but I can’t make out the words.
“Leave them all but that one. Bring that one he might be useful if nothing more than a very pretty jacket. Tag the big red one I want to know the migration pattern of this pack……no, I don’t care I’m on the Samuels family ranch land it borders mine and if these wolves are going to be a problem for my farm. I will eliminate this pack if I need to.” A squeaky male voice says above me. Hands grabbing me picking me up off the ground. Humans. Trying to link someone in the pack but I can’t a muzzle is tightened over my face as a collar is fastened around my neck.
