The next morning I am woken up with my fathers voice ringing through my head. “good morning black rose pack. Today I thought we could have some fun. Please meet me in the meeting hall in an hour and bring all the pups.” groaning I pull the pillow over my head. “I heard that. don’t think this is a vacation. I want you two to write down everything your remember from the last four years.” he orders.
Getting up I head to the main room. Flipping on the coffee pot to start I look over at the table where we left the lab tops. Looking at the black screens I walk over and hit the power button to bring the screens back up. The screen is split into four a different camera cycles through each screen,. watching the pack all heading towards the meeting hall I get a pang of guilt and jealously. I know my pack will be fine no matter what. The smell of coffee filling the air. The guys start making their way to the kitchen as I set up the cryo storage unit on the table. Setting up an area to take the samples from both of us twice a day every day for the next six days. Out of the corner of my eye I see the screen go from four to one and the sound was turned on. Looking over I see father looking at the camera as he picks up the phone. “alpha William Samuels of the black rose pack.” his tone casual but his body showing all the stress he is feeling. “alpha William this is alpha of alphas Zeus winters. I am calling to see if you have heard from your son and his beta we are starting to worry something may have happened to them you know there have been increasing rogue attacks lately.” did he really just insinuate that the rogue king would be out to get me? For all we know the rogue king is dead as no ones heard from them in years.
“no alpha I have not. I have to admit I am starting to worry. I can have men there in a few hours to help search.” one day I hope to be half the man he is. I can see how angry he is yet you would never guess by his tone. “no that's alright we have it under control. But if you hear or see him please contact me right away.” “yes alpha” cutting the call. Well I think you are right about them being here tomorrow. A few scouts reported they are expanding the search but wearing thin.” father says to the camera. Clicking the instant message feature of our system I type =can you call the coven we need a way to break the spells on our warriors still there. We are still a month away from their return date.= the screen pops up and the word typing is waving at the bottom of the chat box. =already thought of that. They are sending someone to work with Locke as well.= signing off I get ready to draw our blood.
Tipping the tubes mixing in the additives before I push the button on the cryo storage block. Date and time stamping the two vials. I slid them in the spots a clicking is heard ad the door shuts and the light gets brighter for second. Then it starts humming then another click and it sings out storage complete. “one down 11 more to go.”
Sitting down with my cup of coffee when the “you got mail” chime goes of several times. Ty looks at the screen and starts laughing. “what?” “your father sent all the contracts that need reviewed for you to go over.” yanking the stupid thing to me I start opening emails. When I hear the chime going off again this time from the other lab top and I start laughing. “looks like I am not the only one being put to work.” he flips me off then flips the lab top off. “you know they can probably see us and are laughing at you and your tantrum.” groaning he got up and walked over to the lab top taking it raising it above his head making the “look I am doing it” look. Sitting down we both get to work going over the contracts and changing things I didn’t like to have it reviewed later by the other parties. Soon start hearing pups yelling and laughing. Looking at the surveillance screens I see pups running all over the house.
Taking time away from the lab tops we watch the screens as the pups run about the house.. touching everything looking for plastic balls filled with candy and prizes. One of the prizes is -be alpha for a day- this is the prize every pup is looking for. Normally we do this twice a year so this random game has the whole pack talking;. father explained he was missing his pups so thought this would help. I don’t know how much of that was a lie and how much was actual truth. A pang of pain stabs through my hearth thinking about my sisters.
It was so fast if I hadn't been watching it I wouldn't have seen it. A small she-wolf found the special ball. I can see the excitement all over her face. But then a bigger boy grabbed it from her and starts yelling how he found it. I link father and let him know what I seen. Thanking me he cut the link. The pups still running around looking for the balls. The next time we do this we will find the balls no one found. We will check to see whats in side and either toss it and get a new one if its gross inside. If its a pixie stick, we just toss it in the basket to be placed along with the others. This is the first time we opened the house up for the game, and I have to admit the amount of hiding places tripled. I dought I will be able to only run this game outside next time. Maybe spreading them all out thorough the land and house. More hiding spots makes for a longer game giving the adults that little bit of free time.
