Chapter 55

Looked around what I thought was a small hut but turned out to be huge like almost as big as one of our common rooms for pack events. Walking over I see a wall with many shelves and several jars with small heads inside them. Looking closer they are heads of creatures I had never seen before. Stopping at a jar with a female head her long multicolored hair. Reds blacks with small streaks of white. Her forehead is red with black symbols in the center. The lower half of her face is very pale with almost black-looking freckles. Oddly enough I can see a spark in her black soulless eyes. Sitting on the crown of her head was an intercut headdress of bones feathers and a few other things I have no clue as to what they are. I feel drawn to this head and I don’t know why. Catching myself before I touch the glass I hear Ambrose humming behind me.

“hmmm I would have thought something less well distinctive but who am I to question the goddess.” tapping his chin and looking over “huh?” “not to worry things will come to light later. I do hope when this passes you keep that oh-so-very open Samuels mind. Someone close to you will need your help when it comes to passing.” he chuckles. Still looking at him like he lost his mind he moves around the large open area. A loud ringing started and he starts mumbling in sounds more than words. Finding a red orb thing he tosses it out a window. “when I said no calls I meant it. Deal with it yourself.” he yells as the orb disappears. Looking over at him in question as he shrugs “some people don’t know how to listen.” with a wave he turns and heads towards stairs I didn’t see.

How did my father put up with this guy and not kill him? Shrugging I follow him up the stairs. How this goes up to a second floor is beyond me it didn’t have a second floor from the outside. “girl you know how a house can look bigger on the inside than the outside why do you keep questioning things.” he huffs out. Now stomping up the stairs I follow annoyed at he can keep guessing my thoughts or well feeling them ugh this man. A jolt goes through me as I place my hand on what I thought was a wall. But it feels like it's breathing. The soft intake of air and release has me pulling my hand away to find a lizard looking back at me. “oh joy you found Samson. That little guy loves playing hide and seek. Let's see he's been hiding for oh what ten years now. You are a lucky duck are you not.” he almost squeals at the same time the stupid thing spits on me. Right in the face balking swiping at my face I taste a bitterness. Ugh, it got in my mouth. What does this jerk do get me a drink nope he starts laughing like it's the best thing in the world. My tongue is going numb and he's laughing. I am gonna stab him in his sleep. “only if you can find my room dear.” he sings out as he gets up and continues up the stairs. The lizard jumps on me crawls over me then jumps into the air disappearing. But not before I felt a wet spot on my shoulder. Did that stupid thing yep it did it pooped on me.

Before I can wipe it off Ambrose is back holding my hand back. Looking at the pile. Then up into my eyes nods and scoops the shit off my shoulder pulling a jar from his pocket he carefully puts it in the jar then tosses the jar down the stairs. What was the point if he was just gonna toss it away? Yawning I cover my mouth. All of a sudden feeling very tired. Looking at this child of a man a plea to take me to a bed heavy in my eyes. He chuckles and turns to finish walking up the stairs to the only door. “okay young alpha this will be your room here it has the best view in the place. Or well the best view for you. I am sure you know how charmed windows work. The bed looks uncomfortable until you lay in it. It will adjust to you. I would go in but then the room would shift to me and stay that way. No, I have never set foot in there and I won't the room was designed for you and your sister no one else once it's no longer needed it will be adsorbed into my hut. Enjoy it while you can. Oh just so you know there is no way to connect to the outside world, here your phone if you had it wouldn't work. So it's just us here for however long it takes. Learning to love me sooner rather than later will do you some good. Oh before I go here this is from Eris she said to give it to you when you are here. No, I didn’t read it I have some standards ish.” shocked he didn’t read it but that doesn't mean he does not know what it says. “you do catch on quickly.” and down the stairs, he dances.

Opening the door stale air and Eris perfume fills my nose. A sense of home does follow it. Taking a step into the room that looked like Eris's side of our room starts to shimmer and rearrange. The bed was covered in bright pink now covered int he silver and black. Why? Well, they are my favorite color so I think the room is trying to welcome me. I just stand there as the room shifts from one thing to another several times before it settles on a canopy bed draped with black mesh curtains. The mattress covered in silver and black bedding looks to be both soft and firm a the same time. Like a warm loving hug from my father. How something can be both soft and hard is a very father-like thing I don’t know if I will ever understand. The window looks out over the pack lands. The cows with their calfs jumping and playing. Just to the left, I see the mares that had foals within the last few months. The sights of home are soothing to my soul. The only thing this view is missing is my pack. But for now, being able to see the herds and the rich greens of our land is helpful. After so much white my soul sings at the sight of green again. Turning to the bed I can almost hear it calling me. The dresser next to the bed opens and my favorite pair of sleep shorts and tank are sitting there. They were my mothers. Slipping them on and tying the drawstring I feel more myself. Crawling in bed my pillow smells of the salty ocean and fresh cinnybonnies. My body and soul sag in relief at the scent of our mate the bed shifts under me a few times then becomes a cloud and I can't keep my eyes open any longer.
