Hades pov
“Alright, kids you ready for tonight?” My dad asks as he comes into the barn. Tossing a stillborn piglet at Cerebus I nod. “I was born ready old man.” Smirking as Phobos starts screaming as he swoops in. “Sorry, bud there was only one. And Cerebus beat ya.” He dives at Cerberus before changing direction and flying out the door. “you know you would have thought Phobos would have been Mars familiar. Between the colors, they are both so moody.” Vlad chuckles as he comes out of the storage room.
“How many?” Flipping to the right page in the log book. 30 live 1 still. Gonna see if we can split this litter up a little that’s a whole lot of bacon for a first-time mama.” Checking over the sow making sure she gets up and theirs no bleeding. My dad brings over a crate. I grab the smallest ones first we have a sow that only had four so I’m hoping to stick a couple of these guys with her. Being careful not to have skin contact with them. Pigs are smart and dumb and mean.
Rolling my shoulders and neck they had been achy all day and itchy. My skin has been feeling tight all day. I know it’s because I’ll get my wolf tonight. I’m more curious to see if Ravenana will shift. I know I will I can feel him pushing against me trying to break through some barrier.
A loud huffing has us all turning to see a shadow staring at us. He kicks at the ground twice. “dude we don’t have any. go check at the house.” Staring at probably the youngest looking oldest bull I have ever seen. How old is he? A few years older than my mom. Stomping his foot he lets out a loud angry mooing. Rolling my eyes at the big spoiled dog. “you know you and mom did that right?” “We did not it was your grandmother and your mother I had nothing to do with it.” He defends himself.
“Finish up with that sow then head up to the house your mom wants to talk to you.” “I swear it was the twins or better yet it was Nyx I swear “ trying to remember if I did anything stupid lately. Dad just laughs and walks out of the barn. “jerk” I grumble “I heard that.” “fuck” “and that” ya Nyx already hates dad's hearing and sense of smell.
Don’t get me wrong I love Nyx and will protect her with my life but when you think of a demon there should be a picture of her next to it. She's a miracle to everyone. Besides having my parents and the pack wrapped around her tiny little fingers she has most of the demon realm wrapped around that finger. Ambrose is the worse. Mom and he got into a fight and had to repair the back left corner of the house and six fence panels. What was the fight about? Mom wanted a time-out bracket made for when Nyx is being too much and needs to chill out. Ambrose didn’t want to make it saying imps will be imps. In the end, Zyaire talked some sense into him. Zyaire and Ambrose are the only two beings Nyx can’t put on a magic timeout.
On a serious note, she can increase your magic or decrease it. She also can turn your magic into her magic. She also causes trouble. She will always be this way being a mischief demon. She lives to cause trouble. I’m just glad that she was born with a good heart or her games could be a lot worse. She could be the best friend you’ve ever made or the worse enemy and she doesn’t do third chances it’s one-two strikes and your done.
As with all those about to shift it’s a big deal in the pack so we have a special pack dinner with the pup's favorites if more than one, then we have favorite dishes or desserts depending on how many will be shifting. Raven's mom and Vlad's dad share a birthday day along with a huge group of wolves. According to my mom when her mom went into heat she took the whole pack with her so a lot of pups were born six months later. I have my theories as to why that happened. But I’ll keep them to myself for now.
Clinking sounds create a hush over the room. “as you all know today Hades and Ravenana turn sixteen and will be shifting for the first time. Not only are we about to see your future alpha wolf we also will bear witness to the future of our pack. With the demon realm open to using and us open to them we step foot into the unknown.” The pack cheers filling me with pride. In the back of the room is former beta Tyler his mate Michele along with Reena and Kavin. Uncle hunter and uncle will are busy in the demon realm. They found a second female mate and they are in the middle of her rut we all like living so they get a pass this time. And they better make me new cousins. Not that there is anything wrong with Kaleb and rosemary along with Derek and Allie and the one inside rosemary right now. They had a bit of a problem conceiving a pup due to the potions Jesse shoved down her throat. The best healers in both realms did everything they could. So what changed? My aunt Eris is also carrying a pup and this pup has a healing touch. It’s not a cure-all it’s more a well here’s your problem touch. So a week later aunt Eris saw through her pup what the problem was. It was pretty amazing. Jesse had bone clamps placed on rosemary’s reproductive system. It was her own bone so her body wouldn’t reject it or even see it as a foreign object. All the healers felt she was cycling but the eggs were destroyed. Many x-rays and nothing ultrasounds didn’t pick them up either. It’s rather smart too bad it’s evil.
Rose had the surgery to remove them took her a few days to heal and like magic she was pregnant. So she and Greg have made up for the lost time they have six pups and one on the way.
Raven elbows me breaking me out of my train of thought. Slowly looking at her raising a brow. “it's time stupid get your head in the game.” Smirking I nod as she rolls her eyes. I feel sorry for her mate.
“Alright, you monsters let’s go down to the last level. We have been working on a secret project.” My mom claps her hands getting up. She still has balance steadiness once in a while more towards the end of the day. But don’t mistake her wobble for weakness. There is nothing weak about my mom. My dad smoothly steadies her and slips his arm around her waist both in support and love. My dad loves my mother more than anything in the world and nothing could change that. Was there a time that was a different reality? Yes a long time ago. He had to keep secrets from her even when he didn’t want to. Mother punished him for a while according to everyone.
Following, my parents and the rest of the leadership team we follow them out forming almost the same formation. The biggest difference between Ares and Mars. They always demand to be at my side. The way they are so sure about it we all wonder if they think they are my guards. Now those two. I can’t wait to see those two shift. Behind my group are Tulok and Aput. Tulok is the future alpha of the snowpack and twin brother to my beta so he will always walk with the family and the leadership of this pack. The two packs will function as one. I’m hoping I’m bigger than Tulok. See Tulok is a pure white polar bear with ice-blue eyes. He looks like fallen only bigger. At seventeen he is already bigger than my mom which is saying a lot. Vlad is a red and white wolf almost as big as Tul with deep green eyes.
Stopping In front of a double door. “so a long time ago a rose changes one of the floors to mimic the outside. But I wanted something better so after years of trial and error we created a pack run floor. Now that does not mean it can only be used for pack runs. But with all the hunters and magic laws placed on us all. I wanted a safe place for our pups to learn to be wolves without fear.
