Chapter 101
Taking a seat across from Hades not looking at anyone else. “Honey, are you okay you look like you've seen a ghost?” My dad linked all I could do was nod.
“So cousin what have you calling for this meeting?” Hades' even tone gives me chills down my back. Seeing johnny shrug his shoulder feeling the same discomfort. “Well, Hades” “lord alpha or just alpha Hades. Do you not have respect?” The small girl sneers. Her smokey voice slithers over my skin. Cold and sharp feeling. Swallowing “I apologize I was hoping this could be more of an informal talk. I will adjust my mindset” glaring back at her.
“alpha Hades may I ask why she was in my home? And what did she do with fern?” glaring back at the girl. “I have a fucking name mutt.” She seethes a black smoke wrap around her. Beta Vladimir pulled her to him and the smoke faded. “princess I would watch your tone with my brother's mate. She has the worst temper.” Taking me back as I look between the two. Okay yes, they have a similar structure in both mountains. If I didn’t know better I would think they were the alphas well okay one is.
“brother?” Johnny asks pointing between them clearly confused. “twins.” “How? I mean okay I can see how you could be related but you don’t smell even a little like each other. And your names? And let’s not forget you’re a beta he’s an alpha?” my dad bulks. Sucking in a breath waiting for my tempers to explode. Scents entered my nose. Jumping up I look around the room confused. Everyone froze and looked at me. Sniffing the air several times before I look at Hades. “what is going on? None of you smell right? And what did you do with fern?” I growl out getting tired of whatever game they are playing. “did you say a child of the cold?” johnny asked slowly.
“I didn’t call you to play fucking games. I want whatever this problem we have to be over.” “And what is that problem cousin?” “I don’t fucking know. All I know is my whole life it’s been me trying to reach out and you shooting me down. No one’s explained what you fucking issue aughhhh.” Grabbing at the base of my neck. The scar feels like it’s burning the scent of lavender and burnt flesh fills the room.
“awe good the spell worked I see. Sorry, my boy for being late my light was having a control issue.” A young blonde blue-eyed. Thick medium height guy with a sweet sing-song voice that pulls at my soul. “old man, what are you talking about?” “I placed a truth potion in the center of the pendant. It leaked into the false alpha as she wore the pendant. When it burned off it sealed the spell inside her. She will be unable to lie to you young lord.” “very sneaky, sneaky overseer the girl says. “princess, flattery will get you everything, but this was my lights idea. I just helped weave it.”
They start chatting like we are not here. I have no idea who they are talking about or what. Cold breath fans across my neck. “looking, good princess. It’s been too long before I leave we should catch up.” his breath almost froze against my skin causing me to shiver. I can feel a cold almost pulsing from him. “what are you?” I demand catching the room's attention.
After a moment they burst out in full side-splitting laughs. I have had enough I can see this is going nowhere. Stepping to the side away from alpha snow and head for the door. Grabbing the handle my hand slides right through.
Not believing what I’m seeing I grab at the handle again. “fuck you old man.” Hades' deep voice rings through the air. “I don’t know why you still vet with him, twin. You know he always wins.” The girl laughs as she climbs into beta Vladimir’s lap. Spinning almost bumping into johnny who had followed my lead. Hades is smirking as alpha snow leans against the counter.
“I apologize we were just having a little fun. Well maybe not Rav but the rest of us.” “yes young lord the process is a testy little…” waving his hand up and down looking at the girl. What an odd name.
“Then tell me where is Fern? And why was she in my home?” I growl. My claws dug into the palms of my hands. The scent of iron starts to fill the air. “shit” beta Vladimir spits out as he grabs a hold of the girl. Her eyes had gone if possible even blacker. Her face twisted into a feral wild beast. Her lips pull back over her small fangs as she starts to launch forward. The odd surfer dude grabs my wrist squeezing making my fist release. The cuts heal right away when I feel a burn in my palm. The blood is burned away leaving no trace of blood or fire on my hand. I then feel what feels like thick gloves sliding over my hands but I can’t see anything. Too stunned to speak.
“Take the princess in the back. I thought there might be a chance her anger would be an issue. I brought a triple mix for her.” Beta Vladimir nods as he looks to be wrangling a feral cat and losing. Heads to the double doors to the kitchen. “what are you?” my father growls looking around the room.
None of them smell right. “what do you want to be answered first?” Hades chuckled. I’m glad one of us is in a good mood. “where is Fern?” “paying for her crimes.” He shrugs “she didn’t mean it. It was an accident it was so out of hand. She felt horrible when we heard about the cows “ “what about leaving a newborn in the woods alone to be claimed by the wild? Is that not a crime that should be punished.” The girl yells as she walks back through the door with a soda bottle full of black red and gold swirling liquid in it.
“I don’t know what aweeeee.” “that will happen when you speak a lie so let’s not play games.”
