Chapter 25
While having breakfast I link father telling him I found my mate. He let me know that he has not heard a thing from the black rose pack. Cutting the link I think of a plan to get a search for the black rose. A bright flash of light lights up the room and a small floating ball of fire is hovering in front of Jake. A feeling of shock goes through me but nothing that made me feel alarmed. Watching the little ball flicker and dance before it poofs out. My eyes snapped to Jake's. Sadness is shining bright in his eyes. Shay rushes to him crawling in his lap. My stomach drops. He found Artemis. “she's three days away but father will have her here tonight. I sent the fire pixie to tell my father where she is. You can call the guard back.” kneeling in front of him laying my head on shays lap. Once we walk out that door this is over. Shay and I have to reject Jake and he has to reject us. The room is so full of sadness it's like standing on a sandy shoreline. we decide to wait until the last moment to break the bond. We will have to find a way for us all to get away and let our hearts break.
Leaving my suite was the hardest thing we have had to do. Shay heads to her parents to pack and move to my suite. Jake and I head to my father's office. I link shay my thoughts on one last night with Jake. Packing up and going for a drive down the coast for one last night together breaking the bond once we are back at the castle. She sadly likes the idea. She's never been off the pack lands so that is exciting but heartbreaking at the same time. Cutting the link as we reach the office door. Walking in father is sitting at his desk. Not looking up he asks “do you have a plan?” “yes. Tonight we show up in the middle of the night to search. They won't be so on their toes half asleep.” my heart is not in the need to find the alpha heir. Father nods in approval. Jake lets my father know about Artemis and his father having her back tonight. He smiles and nods dismissing us until tonight. Once back in the hall “let's go help shay”
With the cover of night, we make our way to the black rose border. Calling breach of contract gives me the right to show up unannounced to search for him. As I thought they had not been expecting us to show up. Come to a stop outside the small two-story farmhouse in the middle of the pack lands. The wide wrap-around porch gives a welcoming aspect to the old building. if I had not read about the structure of the packhouse here. I can't stop looking at the ground in wonder. Is there part of their packhouse under my feet? Shaking my head making a mental note to look into this plan more. “can I help you?” a slightly smaller version of Samuels asks. The has to be his father. “alpha William I am the future alpha of alpha's Apollo winters. As you know your son is in breach of contract for the academy. I am here to search the packhouse, your pack lands, and any other black rose pack property” with a nod he steps to the side letting me in without a fight. One point in the has nothing to hide a category.
Signaling my men some heading through the lands. The rest of us headed into the house. Thanks to the spells they just do as I say. Heading to the back of the house where I know the doorway to the actual packhouse is. As I make my way through the house I wonder why more packs don’t do this. As I make my way down the stairs I notice the walls are so smooth. The alpha following behind me strikes up a conversation about the house. “so what do you do when you add members to the pack? I didn’t see any other houses on the land so far.” with a tone of boredom and sleep “we add more rooms or suites.” sleep heavy in his voice. Searching every floor of the packhouse I get a first-hand view of how big this pack is. “you provide everything your pack needs? “ he nods. “how?” I ask wanting to both keep him talking and find out how much this pack is worth. If I have to I will take this pack and disband it. Send the wolves in this pan in my ass pack scattering. I'll let the warriors pick a few of the young she-wolves as their bed warmers and housekeepers the rest will be rogues on the run an order to kill on sight. I'll ask Jake if there is a way to mark them as traitors to the alpha of alpha. This whole pack will suffer because of that stupid worthless alpha heir. Keeping my eyes and ears open for anything odd I follow the alpha into the house.
Have the link open with all the guards so that if anyone finds anything they can let me know right away. Having only walked down one flight of stairs I am so impressed with what I see. “why don’t we go have a cup of coffee while your men search my lands and packhouse.” alpha William suggests. Nodding I follow him down the hall. He opens a door letting me enter before him. What I thought was a room was a huge dining hall. Several wolves are around eating, drinking, and talking. the noise stops as we enter smirking I just walk behind the alpha watching this worthless pack/The pack here looks so close to this part of the this I don’t like I like having my privacy. .taking a seat a small she-wolf brings us mugs.
