Chapter 34
The dining hall emptied leaving just us and our parents. This is where they break their bonds with the pack stripping them of the citrus scent-marking them as mine. The bags the spelled handing from both my fathers and my necks. Our communication rings embedded in our being. With one last hug from us all as a group, they said the words that brought me to my knees. “I William Samuels reject the black rose pack and Philip Samuels as my alpha.” the pain ripped through me as they all broke seven bonds snapping in my chest at once. My knees hit the floor before Ty's hand made it to my arm. Gives me a moment for the pain to run its course.
Standing squaring my shoulders looking my father in the eye and nodded. With a wave of his hand, Ambrose sent the group to who knows where. Bowing our heads in sorrow before we all turn and head to the spelled school wing on the third recreational floor. Decided to take the stairs giving us just a little longer alone. Taking ten minutes to reach the spelled wing. Tonight looks and feels like we stepped out the front door. Tomorrow it will look like a park with glass doors all around the edge. A newer addition to the house. Father had it constructed first being the nursery and clinic long term that being the most a week stay patients. Shewolves give birth on a special wing now. When my father first took over there was an attack on the pack several of the new mothers and pups from the clinic on the surface were taken and never seen again. Now the clinic is to treat emergencies only setting a broken arm and things of nature. If your healing takes more than two hours you are sent to the medical wing a few floors up.
A hush washes over the field several hundred wolves bow their heads. Our chest puffing out in pride looking over our pack. Wanting to keep it light I ask “did I hear someone mention a pack run?” little johnny was first to say something. “you did. Right mama?” the field breaking out in laughter at the little man. “well then I say let's go.” I bellow out pulling my shirt off, shifting first into my huge black with silver tips. My coat looks like the night sky. My eyes were now shining silver. It was as if the night wanted a wolf to look like it. I was the night sky. My team soon followed Ty in his red wolf with a black tip tail. Both Kavin and hunter have multi-shades of brown and white wolves. Their black eyes hold the pride they feel now that they are free and feeling the earth under their paws. My chest was puffed out as I swing my big head to my pack howling out for them. They all started shifting the pups too young to shift in baskets or climbing on their parent's backs. This is a pack run that has not been done in the history of our pack. Yipping in the air I shoot forward through the crowd. They split to the side waiting to follow behind.
We ran and played for hours. The pups all fell asleep in a puppy pile in a clearing next to the lake. Everything is so real it's like I am standing next to the lake. the herd not here is what reminds me this is an illusion. Laying at the shore of the lake watching my pack play and run enjoying this carefree moment. I notice the tops of the trees along with the moon start to shimmer letting me know it's time to head to our beds. Linking the pack “the night is coming to an end the spell is lifting. Thank you all for a memorable run. Those that can take tomorrow off please enjoy a free day those of you who can not be honored for your tiredness tomorrow. Good night.” howls fill the air as they slowly collect their pups shifting and heading home.
Heading to bed I start thinking of a plan for the following week. As a plan forms in my head, I make it to the door. A small hand lands on my arm. Looking down I see Sabrina a young mateless she-wolf. Batting her eyes at me biting her lower lip. I know she's trying to catch my attention and had I not met Artemis I would be happy to test her out. But the only she-wolf I want to wither under me is Artemis. Patting her hand before I pull it off my arm. “have a wonderful night Sabrina.” dropping her hand as I walk away. I know she's sad I didn’t take her up on the offer but there will be a wolf willing if she is looking for that. Ty comes up beside me “she didn’t too happy” shrugging my shoulders “she will get over it. When I bring Artemis home I don’t want other She-wolves giving her a hard time.” he nods in understanding. Making it to our floor when Ty asks “do you know if the contract was done with blood oath?” stopping searching my mind for the contract and trying to look it over. It's all blurry. Why didn’t I memorize the whole thing? Groaning I look at Ty “I will check them tomorrow. If your thinking what I think you are? Then yes I agree and…” trailing off with a grin Ty's face mimicking mine.
Heading into my suite with a new pep in my step hoping I find that as far back as we have copies of the contract with the winters. That they all were signed with blood. We have kept this a secret for a long time. A secret we have never invoked in the creation of the pack. But entering a blood oath with a Samuels and then breaking the vow you made makes you entitled to the Samuels. What was yours would then be the Samuels? An alpha backs out or betrays me I become his alpha and his pack is mine. The more times the same oath is renewed the stronger the bond. We have never needed to activate revoke blood oath. So to be honest no one knows what will happen when it is activated. Is it a little selfish if I want to know what would happen should she mark that witch under a centuries-old blood oath?
