Chapter 28

Everyone standing just on the other side of the door move out of our way as we race up the stairs heading for the front door. None of us have shifted in almost a week and our skin is feeling itchy. The second we break through the front door our wolves pushed forward forcing a fast hard shift. All of us pant for half a second before we sprint to the woods. I know there are so many things that need done and go over, but our wolves need this freedom for a little while. Taking this time to race to the area I saw the girl. Tyler was hot on my heels the other two took off their way. Father linked to letting us know they are taking our things to our rooms.

My wolf gave me very little control over the shift he needed to be free and feel the richness of our soil as our claws dug with every step. Howling out in joy at the pure feeling of freedom. I can only imagine what the rogues in our cells that cant is released feel. I was only locked away for a few days and I was already going mad. Some prisoners have been down there for years. Breathing in the scent of the fight along with the fresh air spurning me on. Making it to the area I sniff around what I find has me curious. I smell a scent and the scent of the pack in the brush she had been laying in. But I didn’t recolonize her like a pack member. Looking around I find a small white and blue striped piece of cloth. Sniffing it has a very familiar scent I can't place. Grabbing it carefully not to get my scent all over it I race back to the house. Finally able to have control back my wolf lays peacefully in my head enjoying the air and burn of our muscles.

Father is standing on the porch when we get back. He has two sets of clothes sitting at his feet. Dropping the cloth at his feet I grab a pile and shift. Slipping the shorts and shirt on as Ty comes up dropping a piece of paper at fathers feet before grabbing his pile. Shifting and slipping on his clothes. Father picks both up sniffing the cloth growling at the scent. And his eyes also dilate. Then he looks at the paper fisting his hand as he reads. “father?” his eyes snap to me “office we have things to talk about.” I nod as he turns and heads inside. We follow him inside. Walking into the office I see not just my father's leadership team but mine in the room. Two generations of the pack leaders are standing in the middle of my father's office. “hunter can you ask will to come here as well?” my father asks looking at no one. Hunter's eyes glaze over for a second before he replies “he's on his way?” father nods and whispers with beta Johnathan. Gamma Kyle and delta wade are hunched over a lab top and files. Looking around I see my fathers usually clean office is scattered with files and papers. What the hell is going on. Hunter and Kavin are both looking over their father's shoulders. A knock on the door lets us know will is here. Entering father says “shut and lock it will.” oh snap this is serious. Will does as he's told. Looked at the hunter and then my father before walking over to the hunter. Hunter takes his hand and we all look at my father and beta john.

William pov

The clothe that Phil dropped at my feet smell not just of my pack meaning it's been in contact with someone from my pack but it also smells familiar to me. Several scents are embedded in the cloth when a name fills my mind. Hannah. The grainy picture from the security feeds didn’t give me that great a view of the girl's face but the man I knew. Brent. By Allie's brother and father to William. This means only one thing the rogue king is back. The surprise attack and taking of pups also confirm it. But it was the note and picture with the note. He's gone two far now. Once everyone is in the office I turn around. “first I believe the rogue kings are back. I think because of the few attacks lately and the picture you sent Phil. The man in the photo is Brent Clark. Brent Clark is the evil brother of my mate Allison Clark and Philip's mother so he's your uncle by blood. Will I know you have asked over the years how you are related to us and who your father is and both your mother and I have told you many different things? Today I am Finally answering those questions. Brent Clark is your father.” stopping to let this sink.

The shock is on the boy's face. I never told Phil or will how they were concussions just that they are family. Edrya agreed that it was for the best. If we didn’t tell anyone who will’s sire is the less likely they will look at him as his father's son. The stigma of having a father like him would follow will around so we opted for the will to not have a father. It worked for many years. But not forever. “NO” will roar out. We all look at him his face is red. He's huffing and puffing hunter is trying to calm him down but will is madder than I have ever seen him. His eyes cut from me to Philip who is standing there in shock. I can when all the stories click in his head when his eyes shoot to mine. Sadness and anger laced them.

“How?” is all Phil said looking back at will trying to find a way to explain how the man in the picture is the father of someone so close to him.
