Hades pov
For the first time in my life, Nyx didn’t wake me on my birthday before the sun. If that’s the only gift I get today I still made out like a bandit. Stretching before I roll out of bed to shower.
Rolling my shoulder as I enter the bathroom they feel tight all of a sudden. Then a burn rushes over my back and down my arms. Leaving ghost flames down the back of my arms. Looking in the mirror my flame-bird eyes are now black and the feathers are all now flames. The colors are more vibrant. Feeling the living bird just under my skin I know he’s fully formed.
I'll be spending half my time in the demon realm train in the last stage of my flame bird. Our bond is fully formed I’ll now at some point see through its eyes when I send it out. The range I can send him increasing. Today is starting out great soon Vlad and Rav will find they are mates. That means I’ll have to choose between Derek and Dexter as my gamma. Maybe I’ll let Rav do that after she and Vlad mark each other. Ya, that’s what I’ll do pass that choice off to the only person that knows the twins the best.
After finishing my shower and dressing I head to the kitchen where I know dad is making waffles. Not just because I can smell them but it’s my birthday and he always makes me waffles on my birthday. I can hear Mars whining about waiting to eat. Ares offered to get Nyx to wake me and my father shut it down. “your brother turns eighteen once just as you demons will. Now if you want him to let you sleep on yours then I’d stay away from his room. Let him have one day you lot are not busting down his door. Besides I give it maybe ten minutes before the bacon pulls him out of bed.” He chuckles. Oh that old wolf. A hard hand lands on my shoulder. “happy birthday son. Later we should talk. I know your mother had kept you informed about everything. As much as I respect your mother I was sworn to only tell this to the heir of the only she-wolf to rule as Alpha. I'll explain that as well. So how about dinner tomorrow?” “ill make reservations in town.” Having a feeling he would prefer to be alone. The only thing that gives me trouble about my great-grandfather is I can’t read his soul. I never could. But my wolf respects him and I can see he cares in his own way. Q
“What are you two scheming?” “Nothing my dear just wanted to have a private dinner with the boy.” “Not tonight pops. We and I mean Kai and the kitchen staff have been cooking since last night. And before you give me lip I tried to help but they all ganged up on me and locked me out of the kitchen. Saying they don’t want to poison the pack. Like I would poison them.” My mother huffs “I don’t know about that mom remembers my tenth birthday. I still get a little scared when I see a cake.” “oh you shut it. It could happen to anyone salt and Sugar look the same.” She punches my arm glaring up at me. My mother is at least half a foot shorter than me. Leaning down I kiss her forehead. “I love you too mom.” Patting my cheek she smiles at me when Ares whines making it to us “I’m wasting away jackass don’t make me come and drag you down the hall.” Shaking my head we head to the kitchen hearing Mars moan in relief as he tries to grab some food. My father slapped his hand with the spatula. “mom dad’s being mean.” He cries. “you know the rules birthday kid gets the first plate. Or are you giving that up in two months?” “hell no.”
“No, I hate you get the fuck away from me.” “AND YOU THINK I WANT TO BE AROUND YOUR CREEPY SELF FUCK NO. MOVE BITCH HE'S MY BEST FRIEND YOUR JUST AN AFTERTHOUGHT.” “HE'S MY FUCKING TWIN LOSER. MOVE OR YOU'LL BE MISSING A KEY ASSET TO YOUR PERSONALLY.”
Frozen at the sound of Vlad and raven fighting as they make their way to the kitchen. Looking around the room I see the same shock I know I’m feeling. Vlad and raven have never, not been on the same page. They are perfect for each other.
“I can’t wait to find my mate he has to be a better man than you.” “Well, my mate is gonna be hot unlike you.” “ENOUGH!” I roar. Getting everyone’s attention. “Start talking without insults or yelling. Vlad you over by dad raven stay where you are.”
Glaring at each other Vlad walks over to my dad. “start talking one at a time.” “I woke up with a deep hatred for that womanizing douchebag.” “hey, at least I don’t eat everyone I meet.” “I said no insults. Mom takes Vlad somewhere please try and get some answers from him. Where’s Nyx? Someone get Ambrose and Nyx, please. Now raven let’s start again from the beginning.”
Crossing her arms she glares at Vlad who glares back as he walks out of the room. “I don’t know what you want Hades we went to bed like every other night but when I woke up just the smell of him made me sick. His touch is like fire. Just everything about his is annoying.” “Maybe we should go talk to your dad or your gran.” “cant they are off getting the perfect gift of something and have me blocked from the demon realm.” Okay so we are on our own. “um Hades Nyx said she’s not coming home until the party she has too much to do.” “like?” “If I knew I would have said jerk. She closed and blocked the link. No one’s seen Ambrose since last night and without Nyx, we can’t go to his pocket anymore.”
