Chapter 116
Running the border during the last month has been great. But my baby bump is getting too big to shift and run. The morning sickness still has not gone away and sometimes I feel I’m breathing fire when I burp.
At least I’m not the only one suffering from never-ending sickness. The smell of sweaty gym socks of the gym is my worst enemy. Mini Matilda scurries in crawling up my leg to my desk. Jumping around like the ground is lava. Ambrose told me once I would be able to hear Matilda due to my bond with Freya, but I think that’s only for the og Matilda. Unlike Freya Matilda can type and has been entering things in a locked document for almost two months. So this was odd. Pushing the keyboard to her I flip the screen on pulling up a word document. “time. Eris comes home. Big fight ready.”
Standing I link everyone “office now. Jas brings Enzo.” Cutting the link I start pacing. “Ambrose dude I could use a little help right Bout now,” I yell in my head. He must have been close as he popped in fast. “what's up oh round one?” “shut up dick. Eris is ready to come home so we have to take out the alpha quietly and dismantle that pack.” He nods along with me when Matilda starts screaming. Looking over she's laying on her side screaming. “go” I yell at Ambrose who poofs. When max Kaleb and Jas rush through the door Jas is looking behind her. “Ambrose just stole Enzo.” She says I nod. “put the pack on lockdown Eris and ros will be coming in hot. Max, Kai, Kaleb take the lead Jas and I need to stay underground due to baby bumps.” Both of us wrapped our arms around our middle.
I click on the computer transferring all control to the security hub. “okay Jas let’s head to the security room we will help from there. Drive the head to the back pasture. Let’s try and make sure we keep everyone safe. I know we have time but I’m not taking chances. Unless it’s a warrior I am calling this a drill we are due. Don’t want to worry anyone if I don’t need to.” With nods, I scoop up mini Matilda and head to the door with Jas. “send Eris and ros down when they get here.” Not waiting for a response we head down to my suite.
Making my way down to the suite I link the kitchen. “Mary we are going into a drill lockdown could you make the pups a big lunch and snack today and maybe ask Emma to do your pup magic I swear she’s a goddess sent.” Mary’s chuckle through the link answers my questions as I cut the link.
“Mary and Emma are tending to pup distraction. So now we wait.” Walking to the back of the wing floor to the stairs through the secret door next to the elevators. Going down the half flight of stairs to the open doorway. Walking through the wall is covered in screens from different cameras around the pack lands. There would be more if we had cameras everywhere in the pack. But we trust our pack members so all the active cameras are outside the pack house. We have them in the halls in case a pup wanders off. And for the annual scavenger hunt. My father told me it use to be outside in the pastures but one year they did it inside and the pups had so much more fun with so many hiding spots. That it was never done outside again.
“so what’s the plan? stay on lockdown until they show up?” “got a better idea. They will know they are gone and where will they look first? Yep here and let me tell you “alpha Paul and beta Jesse” are real pieces of work.” I sneer. Watching the screens waiting for something. The room fills with mist and the scent of lavender. “wow that was so weird snail you need to have this big guy pull you through wait what do you call it to cause no way is that misting?” rosemary excitedly yells. Covering my ear ducking my head. “ouch” Jas hisses out. Enzo is at her in a breath looking her over. “gifted are you not well?” “zozo I’m fine ros just gets excited when she’s excited she has no volume control.” We all giggle. “okay Eris spill what are we looking at? How long before they will be here?” I ask starting at the screens again. With a chuckle. “in two days all that will be left are the wolves we deemed savable. Mattie girl has a list on the computer for you when they make it here. The others won’t make it through dinner tonight “ she waves her hand. “but we do have an issue.” She says pointing to my belly.
“What do you mean?” I ask her shaking her head she motions to leave the security hub. “Trevor finish running the drill, please. Let me know how long it took for a full lockdown is successful. Make sure all pups are counted and location noted. Also, mark down issues or flaws you see.” “yes alpha.” “the rest of us let’s head to my suite grab a snack and wait for the guys to come down after the lockdown is lifted.”
Making my way to my suite Eris starts “did you have anything to do with dean’s family going missing without a trace?” “no clue what you're talking about?” I reply a lie I have gotten good at using. “don’t you dare give me that I know Paul asked you about it like a month ago.” She sneers. “seriously I was here the whole time I mean didn’t y’all show up the next day asking the same and checking for a threat?” I smirk shaking her head she glares at me. Crossing her arms I see her eyes glow. Giggling I fall back and throw my arm over her shoulder. “calm down princess dean’s family is fine and safe.” Her shoulders drop “oh thank the goddess I was worried Paul got his hands on Shelby. She’s a sweet kid.” “she's getting all the help she needs with her magic. In a very very safe place. So little sister what is the problem?”
“The winters are sending a rogue spy to seek refugee here but they are sending him to watch for a baby bump. They want to take your pup when you finally have one. You’ve kept it quiet but I did the math and your gonna be showing soon. I refuse to let what happened to mom and Hermes happen to you and that bundle in your belly.”
