Pulling up to the arena I can smell a lot of fake floral mixed with smoke, animal sweat, and blood. Shaking my head to clear my nose. I will adjust to the scents here sooner or later. “Ya, sorry kid I asked Ambrose for something when he was here last. He said he would be he’s not been back. You’ll get used to it he runs on his own time.” The alpha chuckles. Hopping out of the truck I grab my black thick Black canvas jacket. Over the left breast is the Samuels corporation rose logo. The center is black bleeding to red tips. With the word Samuels corporation in a bright red. Over my left breast is my name Kai S.
The boots fit fine but I prefer feeling the earth under my feet. The smells are so overwhelming I try not to breathe through my nose. A girl as pale as me starts walking our way. She looks just like Enoy but also not. I couldn’t smell her if I tried. “daddy” she squeals. Looking for a way to slip away when she notices me. “who are you?” “Eris is that any way to talk to your sister's mate?” the alpha scolds lightly. Her eyes widen in excitement. “really no found her mate. That’s great where is she? You're not marked? Why? What’s going on? Matilda didn’t say anything to me.” She practically screeches. A tall well build would walk up behind her. Rolling her eyes as he places a protective hand on her waist. “Eris, Paul this is Kai of the snowpack. Enoy is away training still she sends her apologies for missing today’s events.” The alpha lies. Why is he lying to his daughter? Trying to keep a neutral face I watch the exchange.
“Hey, kid I could use a hand over here.” Michael hollers to my relief. “If you’ll excuse me it looks like I’m needed. It was a pleasure meeting you alpha Paul and Luna Eris.” Giving a slight bow. My wolf prancing in my head. I get an oily feeling around this alpha. But he is Eris mate so I’ll be respectful. “hey bitch where’s my sister” Kaleb yells coming from the stalls. “right here you idiot.” A small female version of Kaleb. They both look so much like the delta pair I have a hard time finding a part that’s not them. If you didn’t know better you would think they didn’t have a mother.
Heading to the stalls someone grabs my arm pulling me to a stop. “hi there. New around here?” pulling free of her grip, I nod and keep going. “silent type huh?” she hollers behind me. Humans always just grabbing at people it’s annoying they don’t understand scents and smells. Or when you touch someone you leave your scent on them the more you do the stronger the scent rubs off you. Mates don’t just smell like each other because we mark each other with our serum and leave our scent permanently under the skin. But we touch our mates a lot.
Rose steps next to me. “ugh she’s so annoying just ignore her. She was the homecoming and prom queen. Along with rodeo princess several times.” “you know I have no clue what any of that is right?” I ask seriously and she starts laughing. “thank the goddess there are no stupid things. I am Hungary I smell.” Sniffing the air “well I smell too much to know what I want. make up my mind.” Fallen huffs stomping her foot. Rose giggles more. “bet this is the only pup they have.” “how much?” Kaleb asks with nods from both rosemary and Eris.
“Slave for a month?” “is you know we are all too old for that?” “loser, has to catch rocky?” “you're on.” They all rush out. “well who says they are having more and who says they are not? Rose asks as Fallen's head snaps over to us. Shit did she hear that? No, it’s too loud she’s too far. “kai I need to talk to you.” She waddles over. Meeting her over halfway she’s too round to move much. “what's up?” “I wanted to ask if you will take me after birth to the sea after this one is born. I know we are far from home but that doesn’t mean we stop being who we are.” She huff almost like she’s reading for a fight. “you dork of course. Only if you promise to do the same for me. Why didn’t you ask max I’m sure he would?” “I don’t really know how to bring it up. From what I gathered at the clinic yesterday they plant them here under family trees. So I didn’t know how he would feel about it.” “holding my hand up to stop her. “why can’t you do both Len? The sea does not require all of the after birth and I am sure the tree does not either. I think we should honor both traditions. Can’t hurt to double the blessings.” I shrug as I finish. “and that’s how I know you’ll make a great Lune?” the alpha booms with pride behind me. I was startled and the whole group laughed like it was great fun. It wasn’t.
The events started and I took a seat in the stands to watch. First up barrels. The girl that grabbed my arm won that. When they start setting up for the next event everyone had to go separate ways for different reasons. Well everyone but me. So just watching them putting things up and taking them down, and raking the arena, it was all fascinating. I had been so busy watching that I didn't see or notice that girl coming over to where I was now standing at the fence. “hello again. I’m Brittany.” She starts to purr out but it just sounded like she had flem in her throat. She reached out to lay her hand on my arm but I moved in time. Turning slightly her eyes look to my jacket. “oh you're with the Samuels Corp. My father owns this arena. How long have you been with them?” she bats her fake lashes at me. “recently.” Being short and polite hoping she gets the hint.
When she still lingers I turn and walk away. She just followed. She grabbed my arm again I pulled away just as I heard.
