Chapter 75

After a long shower with my little one, I tell her about the conversation I had with Ambrose and what he will be doing while I am away. Thinking backlinking her so she can see the memory of what was said. I wanted Allie to know who he is and what he is doing here. With him misting all over the place I didn’t want it to cause her any distress.

”so why did you call me here?

“We had someone in the cells and they disappeared in a flash of green light. Who could have done that? How did they get past your wards?”

“what? Start over tell me everything.”

“while away fighting some rogues there was a green flash of light and all the rogues were gone. Later I found that the rogues on the border did the same thing, and then the she-wolf/witch hybrid I had in the cells poofed out too. I thought you told father no magic could be used here at all?”

“well now let me look.” Ambrose says as he mists out of sight. “fuck that's the weirdest thing I have ever seen.” john says staring at where Ambrose had just been standing. “what was?” Ambrose says behind john. Letting out the girliest of girly screams john jumps almost shifting in mid-air. Ambrose and I could not hold back our laughter. Getting a hold of ourselves I look at Ambrose raising my brow.

“The wards have been tampered with so I will spend some time reinforcing them and adding a new one.” and once again he mists.

Loading up in the truck after saying goodbye to my wonderful mate. Trying hard not to think about how much I will miss her. I feel her love pour through the bond making me relax. “remember I am just a link away.” she links. I smile knowing she will be fine and I will be back soon. John hopes up in the truck with me wades in the truck behind us with a few warriors. Following us are another three trucks all carrying five warriors. Kyle mapped out a route that will take us through several smaller pack lands to check on them. The alpha of alphas has been sending aid but has yet to receive word back from the men he sent to these packs. Calling me two days ago to ask if I could send a team to check them out. I assured him I would personally check on my way. He is sending one of his top warriors to tag along so he can be reached no matter what.

This whole situation has me thinking there has to be an inside man somewhere in the pack. So I had pulled Kyle aside to set up a plan to try and lure the traitor out. The warriors we have with us have no clue as to our destination. Kyle will talk near members he knows can't keep a secret. I trust the warriors with us but I also know that warriors talk. Kyle is going to plant that we are heading to the southern packs looking for allies. In reality, we are heading northeast to the hill pack. We told the warrior from the alpha of alphas to meet us at the northwest border entrance. We have two main entrances to the pack border. One on the northeast the one on the western border near the docks. The pack owns a fishing company that's located on the docks. Since we are not the hugest fans of being stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean it's one of our humans ran businesses. We also get a delivery of fresh seafood to buy owning Samuels fishing.

Pulling up I see a young she-wolf leaning against a tree. I can smell the royal pack on her. She's a tiny little thing standing just over five feet. Looks to weigh 90 lbs dark brown hair tied back in a tight braid. Her so dark almost black eyes took in everything. She has a very sweet girl next door look. But when she spoke she had the tone of someone very serious about her work. I have a feeling she keeps the warriors on their toes. Her size would make slipping in and out of places easier. “alpha” she bows “Amara good to see you again. Had I known it was you I would have sent someone to get you yesterday. How is your brother?” I met her when she came to visit her brother who teaches at the academy. Shrugging her shoulder “okay I guess he found his mate and kinda has disappeared the last few weeks. Think he's finally taking that vacation he threatens to take to get to know Luke. Though it would have been nice to meet Luke before they turned off the phones.” you can hear the annoyance in her voice. Being the baby of the family she was used to being the apple of their eye. Not to mention she was the only girl in her family often. Her mother had 2 sets of triplets and a set of twins then James thought they were done with nine kids they went almost ten years before Amara was born. They have always both been rough with and babied her. She is one tough little wolf. she gets settled in the back seat and we start our journey once again. Every so often I can hear her sniffing the air so I looked back at her. “something wrong?” looking at me with that wide-eyed innocent look she shakes her head but I can still see her nostrils flaring as she sniffs the air. Soon I hear her moving around so I look back to find her pulling a hoodie from under the seat. She smells it looking at me “whose shirt is this?” “wade of Kyle's why?” “it smells” is all she says. Laughing “well they are dirty male wolves so I believe it.” not thinking anything more of it. Not thinking more about it she sets it in her lap. I sniff the air but I can't smell anything to cause any thought.

Every once in a while I glance back to see her staring out the window her fingers rubbing over the hoodie. Taking a bigger smell trying to figure out who the hoodie belongs to but all I can smell is the laundry detergent. So now I have a sneaking suspicion that will have to wait for the next stop. Looking at the time I see it's late afternoon now we have been making a great time but my stomach is now in charge. “let's stop to eat someplace.” I link to everyone getting a choir of yeses and fucking finally I am starving from everyone. Remembering Amara cant hear the link I look back as she slips the hoodie on. “we are gonna stop to eat any requests?” shaking her head as she stares out the window a million miles away. Ten minutes later we see a sign for a kountry kitchen just ten miles ahead. Shaking my head at the spelling. I know it's supposed to be cute but it would still have been fine to use proper spelling. Oh, on the other hand being the only place to eat on this road they could have named it the trash compactor and still made a killing.

Pulling into the little dinner that has that log cabin feel on the outside. The type of place that screams home. I can stop the feeling of needing to be inside. I have not ever felt like I was being pulled to a place as much as I am this dinner. Getting out of the trucks we all meet in a group. Wade walks up looking at us before I can introduce Amara wade demands “where did you find that hoodie and why are you wearing it?” he growls stomping over to Amara. She drops to a defensive position ready for a fight. Growling I stop them both “explain!” I demand.

“Sara and Clara gave me that hoodie for my 16th birthday. It's been missing for a year now Kyle hid it from me saying I need to move on,” he growls out. Looking to Amara “hey can you give him the hoodie it's a long story I will tell you later.” she nods slipping it off smelling it once more and walking over to wade. She sniffs her shoulders drop as she hands it over. Wade crushes it to his chest tears in his eyes. “ take a few minutes wade we will meet you inside.” he nods and walks back to the truck he's driving. The rest of us head to the side. Slinging my arm over Amara’s shoulders “if what you smell is so sweet it makes your mouth water. A smell only you can smell it's probably my gamma Kyle. He's back at the pack and when we head back I will take you straight to him.” she looks up at me smiles and nods. “is he a good guy?” stopping I turn her to me “you knew me how long do you think my gamma would be anything less then great?” this breaks the frown on her face getting her to smile brightly at me. She nods and we head inside under her breath I hear her say “guess this is my last mission for the alpha” but she didn’t seem sad about it.
