Chapter 93

Amara pov

Another four hours on the road has us all tired. Jackson had been smart renting cargo vans instead of passenger vans. This made room for the pups to lay down along the drive when they got tired. The parents and teen wolves all turned eating into a game for the little ones. We moved all the pups into one van and turned lunchtime into a picnic. While Jackson and Breena had gone to get lunch I ran to the local electronic store and bought a few tablets and some toys along with a few throw blankets. When we left it was with just one bag with clothes each. I also got diapers and wipes who knows how many we have in the vans. A young she-wolf came with me. While in the store I could see she wanted to ask me something but also the fear of asking.

“Never be afraid to ask me anything you need an answer to,” I say offhandedly. I didn’t want to push her but the smile on her face tells me I was on the right path. “umm ma’am see umm” I can see the nervousness in her so I try a different tactic. “my names Amara so no need to call me ma’am. What your name?” her head drops “45” she whispers shaking my head “not your number sweetheart your name. What do you want me to call you?” her eyes snapping to mine with shock. “any name you want to be called that's what you will be called.” I can see shock feat and excitement all on her face “really?” I nod stopping pulling a cup off the shelf. “what do you call this?” scrunching her brows looking at me like I have lost it. “it's a cup.” she says confused then I pointed at the price tag under it “so not 2.99?” still confuses she shakes her head. “so just because someone put this cup on a shelf with a tag that says 2.99 does not make its name. right?” her eyes lighting at the thought. “then I don’t know what I want to be called?”

This spurred a thought so I headed straight to the books. Looking through them all I finally find one of them a million and one baby names. Picking it up turning it to her “how about we get this and pass it around for everyone to find their name?” looking at it she smiles and nods. “now back to what was it you wanted?” a shy smile spreads and she starts “well you see me and a few of the other she-wolves are kinda you know well Ummm….” and I get it. Heading to the female isle I point “you know what everyone needs?” she nods. “grab just enough for everyone for today and tomorrow we should be there by tomorrow afternoon,” she nods and heads down the aisle. Coming back with two boxes of pads. I can't wait until these wolves get to be happy and healthy. Not afraid to ask for what they need and do not need to ask for everything. Alpha William taking these wolves into his pack and already taking care of them makes my heart sing.

By the time we leave the store, we have three carts filled with things ranging from band-aids to blankets and snacks. I also bought hotpots for each van. I am not the best at these things but Jackson and Henry might be. Getting back to the vans I see Henry leaning against one of the vans drinking a soda looking at his phone. “hey Henry you any good with setting up tablets I bought one for each van for the pups to watch cartoons and movies on. Along with hot spots for them. But I'm no good at doing that stuff.” he looks up at me looks at the carts and stands up “yep let's get this stuff in the vans and I will start setting them up. We had parked close to a park so the pups could burn off some energy. Some of them saw us pulling toys and things from the baskets squeals for toys hit my ears as several pups run for us.. the looks of joy making my heart swell. One little boy was looking at a doll but then looked around and turned away. Grabbing the doll I walk over to him “he there little man. This baby needs a daddy do you know anyone looking for a baby?” his eyes shoot to a she-wolf near him she nods seeing how willing I am, to give him the doll. He smiles and nods his head holding his little arms out to me. I lay the baby in his arms and he hugs it to him so tight. Looking at the she-wolf I take is either his mother or caretaker. With tears in her eyes, she thanked me.

The giggles of a few girls have me looking back at them reading the names out loud and laughing at a few, looking back at her “I bought a few name books for you all to pick out names for yourselves and pups. Your no longer numbers your people no your wolves.” she smiles at me nods then looks down at her little man “what's the name of the alpha? Do you think he would be upset if I called my baby boy the same as him?” looking down at the sweet little guy and thinking back about what I know of alpha William and I know he would be honored. “I have known alpha William a long time and I think he would be honored to share his name with such a strong young warrior.” ruffling his hair “William” she whispered looking at him with a huge smile on her face “I love that he looks like a William right?” with a big bright smile I nod. Soon Breena and Jackson are back with what looks like everything on the menus of several places. “you hungry William?” getting down on his level looking him in the eyes. He points to himself and I nod then he looks to his mom. She nods and he smiles widely and nods. “well then we better go get something to eat before Jackson eats it all.” holding my hand out to him. He takes it happily and follows me to the van. His mother followed close by a new light in her eyes as we walk. “what's your favorite name? She asks me “you know I don’t know I never thought of it before.” after a few minutes of thinking I look her in the eyes and say “Edrya. I don’t know where I heard it or when but it's a pretty name. And you know what I think it suits you.” smiling at her she repeats it a few times before she nods.
