Chapter 75
Early the next morning Derek came in with timber in tow. “Alpha Hades I swear I don’t do anything.” Timber is already whining. One can’t blame her we only ever have sought her out to be brought here when she’s done something wrong. Normally when we want to talk to her we wait for her check-in dates.
“You’ve done nothing this time timber. We have a new assignment for you. Ravenana will be hitching a ride in your shadow over the border at the Winters. You and gamma Ravenana will then scout the place. I want to know guard rotations who’s there how many pups and adults. Most importantly I want to know where Loki Clark is.” Finishing as raven forms in a ball of smoke behind timber. “here Hades Ambrose gave me the two-way bags. Same as the bags William and Philip used to pass notes back in the day. We can pass things through. He said that way I can travel light and we won’t have to leave the castle to get the stockings. You just put them in the bag and I can take them out.” Smirking I take the bag. Raven slips hers over her body.
“Ready timber. I will jump up close to the border then I’ll slip into your shadow.” Timber nods. Smiling at me raven grabs timbers arm and they are gone. Eria storms through the door. “where is she?” “gone auntie. We needed timber to do something.” Glaring at me before she drops her shoulders. “how is she? You know I don’t know why I worry so much about her” “cause you love her auntie.” Derek shrugs walking over to hug the old nymph. She nods slowly. “lady Eria, come have a meal with us. we can talk about how much timber has grown since that day.” My mother soothes to Eria. “dear Enoy, you are still as sweet as ever. I would be honored to break bread with you.” Smiling at my mother.
They walk out heading down to the suite. I do hope Eria lets this anger go. I know it was bad when the Winters warrior entered the way-station. But we did catch it in time. I think what got to Eria so much was that the young boy didn’t use magic to twist timbers mind just his words. He charmed her into letting him in the way-station. His intentions were found as soon as he entered and it was only one so these last ten years should have been enough time to fix the issue. The warrior tree is still standing strong. The bark has almost completely covered him just one eye is left to see the world. He will help to conceal the way-station from those using charm to get in. I think Eris's more disappointed in herself that she took that the last 100 years she didn’t have a break in her defenses until then.
“Think auntie will let go of it sooner or later. I mean I was six when it happened. Kinda miss timber” “speak for yourself Derek that girl was obsessed with me for too long.” “yup know she was just looking to stay connected to auntie Eria. And being your mate would be the fastest way back in her mind.” “I think you soaked up too much of the oven when you were cooking.” Smacking his shoulder when he frets hurt. “take that back. I think I am just like my father, thank you. I mean I even look like them nothing of that” “well since Allie is the only other pup from that oven she’s all we have to compare to” “ya thank goodness for that rule.” Ovens for titles members of the pack can only carry for that one family. No half-siblings.
Heading down to the barns to see how the herds are doing. I find snow and shadow looking a lot better. They do look to have aged a little bit other than that they are looking better. “boy you don’t know how glad I am to see you two looking better. Cinnybonnie?” pulling a small bag from my hoodie pocket. Their loud cries of demand fill the barn. Shadow starts stomping his big foot swinging his big white head back and forth. Snickering I open the bag and pull some out. Wrapping their big slimy tongues around the treats to pull in their mouths. They start nodding up and down.
“Trevor, how does the rest of the herd look? Will we need to buy a few yearlings?” “They are looking better. We lost every calf. So all the heifers are recovering. I already have a few auctions and sell books sent up to the office with my selections. All I need is approval to start buying.” “they all look sound?” “yes I also added a couple of yearlings bulls.” “order what you think we need I’ll sign off on it later. Do you have the account book or do you need one?” “ill check the barn office. I'll send Timmy up to the house if I need an account book. Do you want to put a cap on how much I can spend?” “how many cattle did we loss including the unborn?” “a lot.” “then no just get our numbers back to where they need to be. If I have to add funds to the barn accounts I will take it from my bank account personally. I will not risk one of us going without because they attacked us.” “your grandfather would be proud of the man you are. Alpha Philip was a good man I can see a lot of him in you.” Patting my shoulder as he walks away.
“He's right you know. Your grandfather was my best friend until your mother weaseled her way into that spot. I have been close to your family for a long time but it wasn’t until Philip that I really felt I belonged to a family again. Then your mother, she was never afraid to speak her mind to me put me in my place. I see both of them in you more and more every day” Ambrose having appeared as Trevor started walking away. “and now you are stuck with us forever.” “honored. Stuck means I don’t want to be here. And boy I wouldn’t change a thing.” “what about having to wait another two years to claim your mate?” “okay I would change that. Do you know how hard it is to be around my light and keep my hands off” “dare you to touch “your light” early? I could use a good show.” “right after you take a chosen mate ass hole.” Laughing at his face. We may be powerful beings but we are not stupid. My mother would mount our balls on the wall as a warning to the next idiot that doesn’t follow the laws here.
