Chapter 42
Making it to the stage Apollo and his father both jump up and head to me. “how dare you, stop the mating and marking of my daughter to her mate.” the alpha sneers. “that” pointing at Jacob “is not her mate.” I spit out at him. Jacob's arms are covered in a black smoke lacing around his arms. If that's a manifestation of his magic it is as dark as his heart. If he has a heart. “she's mine.” he spits out reaching for her again when I growl out. “I know for a fact you are not her mate. Touch her again and it will be the last thing you do.” making my way to her. Reached down my hand to help her up. She slowly takes my hand gasping when our skin touches. The tingles are still alive. Her eyes shoot up to me as I pull her up and to me. “Kavin help Artemis pack her things.” “yes alpha” as he reaches a hand to Artemis and they leave.
“How dare you”
“How dare I? how dare I? she is my mate. you have violated the contract with my pack. And when he” pointing again at Jacob “drew blood on my mate. So even if she does not take back the rejection your pack still violated the harming one of my pack's fated mate.”
“lies. You have no proof of such claims I have checked the contracts.” the alpha sneers but has a self-satisfied look. There is a loud boom and a crackle in the air. The wolves in the room start shaking their heads. Gasps at the sight of blood all over the stage. Telling me no one witnessed this. The sounds of phones going off as hunter leans against the doorway in the back. He had said he was working on a special something for today. What he did was send every wolf in the room a copy of the contract with the sections highlighted. Two other witches jump from their chairs rushing to me raising their hands when a large black ball of smoke goes around them locking them in. The ball soon rises and looks like it was yanked out a window. Soon a smaller one followed. Jacob was no longer on the stage. The alphas in the room seeing the contracts pull up theirs now being able to see the words for what is written and not what they have been told it says. Every alpha stands revoking its alliance to the winters. Calling for all their wolves to leave. Taking this time to make a run for it before the alpha gets his wits about him. My pack and several other packs were no longer spellbound by the winters.
Making it to the SUV I see a crying Artemis holding herself. I can smell her scent from where I stand. My mouth-watering and my cock twitching. I have to get this under control. Making it to her I don’t show she's affecting me “Artemis get in the truck.” she snaps her eyes to me tilting her head and sniffing the air. Confusion all over her face. “we will talk in the truck okay now get in before your brother and father can get to us.” she nods and scrambles to get in the back seat. All the warriors having heard what happened made sure to leave lots of room in my SUV for her. All of them are confused as to how to treat her is she the Luna or just a wolf being saved.
Reaching in my pocket I grab the paper ripping it up several times hoping it sends an urgency to him. He pops to me holding a new bag along with his old one. A huge grin on his face. I want to ask what has him looking so happy but we don’t have time as the alarms go off. Pushing him to get in we all scramble. Flooring off the pack lands we no longer care about speed limits. Racing back to the pack for safety. When Ambrose tells hunter to turn at the next break in the trees I start to protest. Ambrose raises a hand for me to hold it. If he wasn’t like a million years old I wouldn't listen to him. But when someone older than dirt says wait you wait. Ambrose grabs my arm forcing a link then expanding that link to the three SUVs “when I say stop hit the breaks.” with that his other hand shoots in front of him a rip in the air in front of the van opens. Bright colors of light spill from it. His voice again fills our heads “drive straight into the rip stop once all three SUVs are through. Now!” no questions were asked we just did what he said.
The light was blinding as we drive through. The pressure against me feels almost good and painful. Like a welcoming and goodbye all at the same time. I couldn’t tell if I was breathing or if I was up or down. My stomach turns like I am spinning. The tingles of the mate bond land on my arm where Artemis is grabbing. Her fingers gripping me tight and cold. The fear I smell from her is a scent I hope to never smell on her again. This little wolf does things to me and I am not sure I want her to. I know I need to step back and out of my head and let her explain things before I do something I will regret. Breaking through the other side I smell salt heavy in the air. The sound of waves hitting the shore fills the air. Blinking I look out the window shocked as to what I see. “stop and stay in the SUV don’t make a move or sound once you stop.” Ambrose says to us.
All I can see is a world so beautiful I have no words to explain it. The sky is a peachy orange color with teal clouds floating in the sky. The ocean is a fire of reds caressing blue sand. The grasses growing along the path we are on a violet. But it was the trees behind me that had my mouth dropping open.
